I did. It wasn't even a year old. Got it from one of the most honest guys I ever met. I flew from Tampa to Detroit and drove it back. 24K miles later and I will never regret it.

I live in Orlando, Florida and purchased a 2001 GTS (2) weeks ago. But, I didn't buy it here... Even though Orlando Dodge had the following Vipers sitting on the showroom floor:

2001 Yellow ACR
2001 Yellow w/ Black Striped GTS
2001 Red RT/10

You can forget about a test drive and be prepared to dump a lot of money if you plan on taking one home with you. They won't budge off the MSRP price and test drives are completely out of the question.

After my third attempt at negoiating a reasonable sales price with them. I came home and emailed Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse Dodge (1-800-889-1893). Not only did he offer me a GREAT PRICE. He had a new 2001 Saphire Blue w/ Silver Stripes GTS delivered to my house exactly one week later. When the driver backed it off the delivery truck it had exactly 9 miles on it and I love it!

As for the BMW M5, I have been waiting over (6) months to purchase one and have $1000.00 deposits with three different dealers. But, just like the Viper... I haven't found a dealer yet that would let me test drive one.

Good luck,

BLS

That car was at Gordon Chevrolet in Orange Park. I would think it's long gone by now. Ronnie Robinson Dodge has a couple in stock (Green Cove Springs). Regarding test driving one to see if you like it enough to buy it, c'mon, it's a Viper, of course you'll like it!

Once you drive it, you'll be bit (just like everybody else here). For a used one, try the Auto / Florida Edition of the Sportscar Trader. Lots of them available here in FL. Olympia does have a yellow '01 in stock too (saw it in the classifieds this weekend).

Your best bet for a test drive is a dealer with a used Viper. I did manage to test drive a new one, but it was very, very difficult. Not really worth the effort. But used ones are easy to test drive.

At the time I didn't know why. But now I understand that Test Drive and Break In Period just don't go together!
