Today I was cruising back from Viper days (spectating) and punched it when I was in second and I noticed a noise around 4500 RPm and higher that sounded like almost my old carborator on my 67 mustang clicking when you gave it the full gas. So I know I don't have a carborator on this car, so I was thinking it could be possibly a loose pully or something loose on a rotation that would make a similar noise. I might be way off here but I thought I might post something before I check it out tomorrow morning. Thanks guys.

could be valve tick? Octane ping? maybe you got some bad gas and the engine can/will tick under heavy load. Just a thought

Clogged hydraulic lifter? If it gets clogged, it won't "pump up" on start up, and this leaves slack in the valve train that can cause tapping noises. Every once in a while, I rinse my engines with a Gunk product, that flushes out accumulated debris. This removes sludge from the oil cavities. Could be something altogether different, but there you go.

Make sure you check that damper pulley!

I hope your right. How loud will a octane ping be? Should I hold off on any heavy driving till i get through this tank of gas?
