If it doesn't have Chrysler on it I probably won't buy it but a few possibilites are a VW diesel or a Honda Civic. My son tells me he's getting around 40 plus with his Honda and the VW gets a lot more and so does the Jetta , all 3 are not bad looking. For me I've got a P T with dual exhaust, flames, and a few other aftermarket items like after market wheels. To heck with the gas mileage, you gotta have a little fun. Besides Chrysler needs all the help it can get after being ***** by Daimler. Perhaps if enough of us purchase Chrysler we'll get to see that 2003 Viper, but don't hold you breath. If I was going to purchase something outside of a Mopar if would have to be a Audi TT. That's one cool car.

BamBam,

Personally, I think this (hybrid cars) will be the next big step. And I would by one if I haven't bought my Ford Focus a year ago. Just the thought of getting great gas mileage and buying less gas, is pretty cool. Plus, its so easy to maneuver from different lanes in a small car.

I would have to say its not the greatest looking thing, but everyone has an opinion. I think the reliability issues may make most people pause to think, but Honda has a pretty good record though.

Sometime I just shake my head when I sit in traffic with so many SUVs that have only one person driving. Luckily, my wife and I get to commute together on a daily basis.

How about an EV-1. I think they may be discontinued but a guy at my work has one. It is supposed to do over 200 mph if you can disable the speed governor. Good aerodynamics I guess. Probably takes awhile to get there..

We had an EV-1 for a week. The one that looks like a Saturn. Drive a little and Charge it a LOT. Pretty snappy to 60mph (~8 seconds) but there is NO way that car will hit 200 by just removing a governor.
quote:
How about an EV-1. I had similar thoughts to yours BamBam, however, I kind of have to agree with Jason on the looks department. You may want to consider waiting until Chrysler releases their Deisel-Electric hybrid that reportedly gets about 80MPG and is a more full-size or mid-size car as opposed to the Honda's shoebox size. It was shown on the last Motor Trend TV and actually looked OK. My $0.02

There is also a Toyota Hybrid as well. Actually has 3 doors and back seats! Better take a look at that before you jump into the hybrid seat.

My thought: You're about 2 years or so away from REAL hybrids. Durango has already been tested in a Hybrid config...and I'm sure other vehicles as well.

Always new there was a reason why Lutz is with EXIDE....I betcha he knows the writing is on the wall! Hybrids = MORE BATTERIES
