Looking at a silver 98 R/T that is advertised at 1750 miles but CarFax says
8k at emissions check on 9/17/02.
Is it like really easy on a Viper to roll back the odo or does CarFax normally screw up things such as this?
If I take the VIN to a dealer can they provide the mileage that the car had when it was last brought in?
Thanks

I can speak for my own car. Many years ago while in Minnesota on vacation I needed service to fix a thermostat leak. The dealer incorrectly put an extra zero in the mileage. Had to explain their mistake many times. IF I ever sell I will probably go through the whole explanation and get a few blank stares. Carfax will probably raise an undeserved red flag.

FYI:

Many mileage screw ups come from Emissions Testing. They default to 12k miles a year. If the tech does not type in the mileage, it will reflect a wrong number.

CarFax is worthless in my opinion. My dad did almost $10,000 worth of damage to his basically brand new PT Cruiser Turbo. Many months later after the repair CarFax still shows the car as having a spotless history. Very scary for those who rely on CarFax.

F355 that's the one.
Do you know the car?
PM me if you can share any info.

Anyone familiar with Naples Motorsports in Naples FL and their sister store BayState Motorsports in Malden MA? Both have white 96's that I am looking at.
Anyclose and could take a look for me if I get to that point?

Also many of the Vipers I have looked at all seem to be titled originally in one state, then they are sold at auction and go to another state.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, I am familiar with the car. I was shocked because of the mileage on the car being only 1,750. I am about 30 minutes away from the car. The car from what I hear is great. If you need any help with it feel free to let me know.

As for Naples and Bay State they are great I hear. No problems that I have heard of. I was using them for my Viper but found a better deal. They are a bit pricey though. I would suggest looking for a car on eBay that is for sale through a dealer. You will get the best deal there. That is where I got my baby.

Need anymore help feel free to let me know.
