Oil cooler lines leaking on a 03?

Did a oil change the other day and found both of my oil cooler lines leaking right at where the metal crimps onto the rubber:(
Is this common for 03s?.What should i replace the lines with factory or aftermarket?.Also what kind of job is it to replace these? Thanks.

The oil/water heat exchanger located on the passenger side of the engine compartment? I haven't heard of any problems with it leaking---I'll have to go take a look at mine to see exactly where the leak could be coming from. Do you have a pic you could post?

I don't know about '03's but I do know a number of GenII owners have this issue over time as the steel braiding wears and pricks into the rubber lines. You may want to give Tator a call to see if he parts and/or advice on the matter.

Mine leaked since new (about 2-3 drops a week). It was an easy fix by the dealer by replacing the oil lines. More than a year now with no leaks.

The only problem was this...

1 - Me talking to dealer: "Hey my oil cooler lines are leaking!!"

2 - Dealer talking to me: "Bring it in and we'll have a look"

3 - Drive 100 miles round trip to visit dealer.

4 - Dealer talking to me: "Hey, your oil cooler lines are leaking!! We'll have to order some and you'll need to come back once we get them.

5 - Two weeks later another 100 mile round trip to the dealer for fix.

Don't know for sure but they just look like they're screwed in. Probably need some type of sealant though. If you ask 10 guys you'll probably get 10 different opinions on how to seal them properly.

I've had oil leaks in boats and they're a ***** to get rid of in a threaded joint.

How true that is. There is a Locktite product that is made to seal the threads on hydraulic fittings.

The fittings are O-Ring Boss.

You need to specify- it is leaking at the Fittings, or at the hose crimp point itself as you say earlier? The hoses/fittings are all quick-connect type, and are easy to change. The hoses are cheap as well as the fittings. Just order them in advance, show up and have them changed, simple as that.

20% off through us... we can just ship them to you, bring 'em in to your dealer or change them yourself... the hoses are pretty much... excuse the terminology, idiot-proof.

The fittings require a 1-1/4 socket and a torque wrench for install, thats about it.

Hi mate
^^^^^^^^^sounds like good advice.i went a slightly diff route,due to the fact im in England uk.
had some tires fitted on the front wheels,i have only just got this car 2004 ,and was looking around like you do and yep nice oil leak.
It was that bad i couldnt see where it was coming from,like it was all over the sump etc.long story short i made up some,and hope its a done job,not the cheapest way to do it but looks good and will be easy to take apart.
all the fittings like the two in the cooler and the two in the front engine cover are screwed in 7/8thx14 thread with an o ring .i reckon the o ring in the inside is the culprit.this is where the tube end pushes in.
you could get a local race shop/hot rod shop to make up the braided hose,or diy.bottom line all the cars i have owned recently did not drip one drop of oil,and i aint about to let it start.
