Uhh... Mr. Roe told me to.
Finished my SC install yesterday. Took me - competent, by really a hobbyist - parts of three days, all told more than 1 full day, but definitely less than 2. I also did a bit of port matching that added some time - now there are no rough edges at the manifold / cyl head interface and also lowered the bottom of the ports just a bit to make the flow from the plenum into the now very short "runner" down to the valve more direct. But boy was it was well worth the effort!
I truly was not certain what to expect, performance-wise... I'd previously been seriously disappointed with 8psi Paxton performance on an older 289 Mustang. I know this is a very different beast - big cubes, twin rotor and constant boost vs small block, centrifigal and progressive boost. All I can say is "Holy expletive-deleted, Batman!" Seamless power boost (pun intended) from idle to redline.
Now I have to "train" the PCM / VEC2. Darn! With my 3.45's, 0 to 100 comes so fast now it's scary! And I'm sure any officer will understand this is all necessary "learning"! I have one tiny rpm range where in 3rd gear I get a bit of detonation under some conditions. Trying to isolate exact conditions to provide some feedback to Sean has been more fun than the proverbial barrel full of monkeys.
I know many have said it before (including me), but I can't say enough good about Sean and his products. Nicely packaged, well thought out, parts boxed with installation order in mind, and great installation guide. The couple of times I did call regarding post installation tuning issues, Sean was spot on in his diagnosis and never hinted he might be thinking "what an idiot!".
I plan to be very careful out there and a track day for some more safer and controlled testing is on order.
Great stuff Sean, truly great stuff!
