Autocross was won by Ray Moore and Ron Adee. However, Ray will be unable to attend as that is the same weekend as Viper Days finals. In his place, 3rd place (and 1/10th behind Ron's time) is Dan Govero who we're hoping will make it.

Many thanks to Dave, Lisa, and all from the Gateway club who helped put this together. We had a great time from start to finish! The MCVO group made sure all the libations were gone Friday night before exiting the banquet room and moving to the bar area. Saturday dawned early with a few cobwebs to deal with. It was nice to autocross on a big 'Viper' course for a change. The cruise through some of the local countryside was a good ride. Even the hotel water problem, although not so humorous when it happened Saturday--definitely made a memory which will become more humorous as time passes. A quick jump in the pool worked pretty well for me. The Gateway Arch, dinner, entertainment, and ride to the top made for a very memorable event. That is an amazing structure! All in all we logged almost 1700 miles and had a lot of fun. :2tu:

And I personally want to thank Lisa and whats-his-face for extending such a warm welcome to everybody that attended. It is not easy to organize an event of this size and pull it off to the extent that these two fine folks did. Add in the pressure of hosting several DC/SRT execs and the VCA bigwigs (the National board of directors and many regional presidents from around the country), and everything points to one incredible success. Hopefully Lisa and whats-his-face will be able to schedule a nice vacation and recuperate from everything! :2tu:

PS. to Dave: I will let you have a rematch on the driving arcade game - as long as your lovely bride accompanies you...

What an awesome event.

I can't say enough about the sacrifices Dave and Lisa have made over the last few MONTHS planning and preparing for this event to make sure everyone coming had a great time. This includes getting up in the middle of the night because the hotel's fire alarm went off to go into the lobby and make sure that all the Viper attendees knew that it was just a false alarm.

And can his great looking wife sing or what!!

THANKS DAVE AND LISA FOR EVERYTHING !!!!!!

Ditto everything said above. Thanks Dave and Lisa for a great weekend. I logged 2700 miles all told and had a blast doing so. [no tickets either - woo hoo!, including doing a burn out right in front of the cop parked across from the hotel entrance.]

This was definitely a mini VOI. And yes Steve, having the final rounds before heading to the bar IS my excuse for the poor autocross results. It should be stated that anyone who logs 3 seconds LESS than Adee (Ray Moore) must have been cheating. I am still in disbelief (respectively of course).

Thanks also to the Minnesota crew for letting me join in their caravan to Minneapolis and the Motor City crew for helping me drink to a painful level. :)

Wow, something must have been wrong. No way there should be 3 seconds difference in even the top ten places. How did his other times/runs compare to his best ?? (respectively here too)

Not sure. And my "cheating" comment was tongue in cheek. I am sure enough people witnessed it. I witnessed Adee's runs and they were FAST. I cannot imagine how much faster a 3 second improvement would have been. He clearly knows how to toss a Viper around the track.

Thanks to all who attended! Great friends, great cars, a little planning and a lot of help add up to success! Personally, I thought the Arch dinner was outstanding! All of you who put thousands of miles on your car just to come to our event are crazy-- and that's just who we wanted to attend! Your enthusiasm and friendship are appreciated.

As for Ray's time, just check the viper days site for his results. Ray is most commonly, the fastest car on street tires, and frequently very close to the comp coupe times! Tony, don't worry, Dan G has been autocrossing since I was 16 and driving a turbo RX7!

Like you've never taken a shower in a pool before!

Ouch. That's okay, hear it all the time at Viperdays.

I'd say less than 5 people ran less than a :43

Adee officially ran a 40.? He later ran some extra runs and got it to 39.? stating that there definitely was still more in it.

I ran a 38.? and two 37s with plenty of witnesses including the 3rd place winner. Did a 42.? in an SRT4.

We set up the same course (using the same cone markings on the pavement) as another autocross event held the weekend before. A Z06 ran a class best of 38.? at that event. No, I did not run in that event.

Sorry I won't make the DC competition. Instead I will be at Viperdays finals in Texas.

The VCA will be well represented though as we have some fast people in the mix. I am sure we will kick some butt with those that are going!!!

My comments were tongue in cheek - not meant to indicate anything but that it took GREAT driving to get that time.

I only had 2 turns at it (spun on first try) and managed to be one of the :43 crowd. But I knew I had left lots in the bag as I was not very aggressive. But 5+ seconds left. Not in my bag of tricks. Wish I could say otherwise but I think the best I could have worked down to would be in the :40 range.
