that was a very early test of the gt by the time it came out the car was quoted as having 550 hp and in reality it has near that at the rear wheels(making it closer to 600 hp at the crank). this was needed to meet performance goal due to the fact that the car ended up 300-400 lbs heavier than anticipated. it is much cheaper/cost effective to make more hp than reengineer many parts to save weight. imagine if the car had the current hp AND weighed in at 2900 lbs instead of the 3400 lbs at produced.
