Well I just got back from SEMA and as all have seen the Copper Cpe has a bump in HP.This will be a factory installed upgrade, that will be a special order from Dodge and not a dealer installed option. There is a small warranty issue that they are just working out.......... Now the big news is Yes we will have what I was told is well over 600HP by (they wouldn't say exactly) around the 2007 model. This is from a very very good source and as he said "done deal". My guess from my conversation is 625-650H yahoooooooooooooo

Steve,

The bump in power won't be from a Super Charger will it? That would definitely be the first component to be removed for those of the community that want Twin Turbos.

Thoughts?

Funny, because other solid rumors have said that there will be no model year 2007 for the Viper. Production of the gen III ends 8/31/06 and CAAP goes on shutdown until 1/2/07 when they will start building 2008 Vipers and 2008 Firepowers. The Gen IV Viper is supposed to have an 8.4L MPI V-10 that will exceed 600HP.

JGK -the bump in power is from a cam and some other mild things.Thats the factory upgrade that will be aval. very soon. As for the new 600hp+ from what I have heard is normally aspirated. The SRT motor right now in its marine form is putting out a very very conservative 625hp.I believe they used Illmore to develop that motor and have used there research and development to make sure 600+ hp will be reliable for the 100,000 plus miles an automobile motor has to deal with.

Steve,

If the hot cam is the answer, you can bet that everyone on BOTH boards will have that part number memorized and ordered Fed Ex NEXT DAY AIR! I've read on the Ilmore(sp?) motor, but the difference is that that cam is under full load from the moment the boat is in gear. The fact that its installed in a boat vs. a car is not lost on me. The car rarely sees full load unless its Paolo Castellano driving. LOL!

Jay,the first increase that will be available from Dodge of the 40-50hp( I forgot the exact number,it was posted next to the car) I was told will be a better cam along with upgraded ECU,better breathing and header. This is almost like what they have already for the Ram SRT10.From what they Mr.X has said they are just clearing up a warranty issue and then they are ready to roll.

It's hard to believe Dodge will be offering any upgrades on the current 8.3 because they will have to re-smog cert any changes to the engine and they don't want to dump any more money and engineering effort into a powerplant that is going away. The only way they would be will to spend this money would be if the bean counters were convinced that they were going to be stuck with a large inventory of gen IIIs and the only way to move them would be to bump the HP. BTW: the SRT people at the Nevada Region SEMA Dinner did all emphasize what a huge problem sales of the gen IIIs has been.

I dont think its a money issue.Dodge wants to protect its own image. Which is priceless..And so far. The new vette has been ruining that.
