Picking up my first Viper a 01 sapphire coupe tomorrow.
I have never owned this dark of a color.Cleaning/polishing and waxing makes me nervous as the car has no swirl marks or blemishes.Anyone have any recommendations on wax, polishes, applicators etc.

If you have no swirl marks, as long as you don't drive the car you should be fine.....but if you insist on driving it, use the wax of your choice and only apply wax in a straight line motion (front to back on top flat surfaces, and up and down on the sides) if you use circular motion (by hand) guaranteed you will get swirl marks. Trying to stay away from the usual wax war that will inevitably start. Congratulations on the acquisition of my favorite color.

Yes, we don't want to see a (Pinnacle) wax war started (Souveran) up here. It can get very (Pinnacle) bloody and ugly with lots of (Souveran) name calling and hurt feelings. So lets not give any (Pinnacle) specific recommendations and then everyone (Souveran) will stay happy! :2tu:

Seriously, congrats on the Viper. Did you happen to get it from "DodgeVipersForSale.com" with BBS LM wheels? If so, that's a nice car, it was in my top three choices. But, well, red is the fastest color so...

Theres a gazillion choices out there, gut take a look at Pep Boys wax isle, then there's the mail order only waxes and polishes.......and like exhaust, wheels, etc people have their personal preferences, and are very passionate about what they use.
I like Mequires professional line of polish(es) and NXT, and Mothers because they are easy.
Zaino provides great results and has a tremendous die hard following, but for me requires too many steps and is a pain to have to spend half a day aor more pplying all of the different "numbers". But like with anything you get what you put into it, and although I think my car looks good, there are many that spend a lifetime on car appearence that would make my car look like crap. My hat is off to them!
That's just not for me.

Welcome,

1. Don't drive it. ;)
2. Use nothing but Microfiber products and fold them so that the stitching around the edges of them doesn't touch the car. Use a good detailing spray on your microfiber like Maguiers or Adam's Polishes.
3. Invest in a GOOD QUALITY fitted car cover and learn how to put on and take it off without dragging it around the car.
4. Wash it with a soap thrower. After washing, dry it with a leaf blower. Reduces the risk of scratching it while drying. Basically avoid physical contact as much as possible.

I have to navigate the gauntlet that is a 1/2 mile dirt road every time i leave and come back to my house. Any car passing by, or driving over 5mph will kick up a dust cloud. The above have helped me.
