Can a rear end from a 92 be properly fitted into a 97? The housing on top is different. Can it be safely machined to fit the 97 mount? Is the any other differences that I should be concerned about? Thanks,I really need this help to get my car off the lift that I am tying up waiting to solve this problem. Thanks Tim

You might want to give Unitrax (I believe they are on the VCA suppliers page) a call - they are located in Fullerton or Anaheim, California and are quite experienced with Viper rear ends, not to mention helpful. Good Luck.

Based on the information you have provided, that would not be a good swap. First, which is probably the most important, the 92-95 Vipers came with a Dane 44 axle which has an 8.5 inch ring gear. In 96 that was changed to a Dana Super 44 which has an 8.9 inch ring gear because of the increased horse power and torque. Why would you want to put a 92 diff in place of 97 diff???
