This question came up with a fellow who has plans to install a roll cage in a new ACR.. will this affect the resale value or discourage anyone from buying a used ACR later on if it had a roll cage installed? The stock interior would be maintained, yet trimming the dash panel around the tubes, etc.. yet it would be a very clean & certified installation.

Thank you for any feedback. :2tu:

If the roll cage is cleanly integrated into the interior then it would be appealing to future owners who are planning to track their ACR. I've seen Porsche GT3/GT2s with factory and aftermarket rollcages that are seen as acceptable.:2tu:

ACRs are appealing to a small, focused market of people who either actively race or ones who want to look like they race cars, or to collectors.

For those who are collectors, or who buy the ACR more for it's image any modifications will definitely detract from the value of the car to them, but for those who do want race their ACRs the roll cage would be icing on the cake as long as the car was well maintaned and not abused. :drive:

Fifth choice: All of the above. Because four different people will pick one of the four for the very reasons you listed.

It will hurt the value for different reasons besides the perception the car was raced.Try street driving a 100000 car with a full cage its flat out obtrusive in alot of aspects ( getting in and out of the car sight lines ect )Also since no one is wearing a helmet on the street make sure any part of the cage that could come in contact with someones head in a side collision is padded.

This was a question i asked many. I am awaiting my ACR to be delivered. After many respected opinions i have decided not to add a roll cage due to resale value. If it were an option from the factory i would have checked the box for this option.
