What are the issues/options for adding power to a 97 GTS that has 47K miles? Motor mods, supercharging, NOS? I've covered with all minor enhancements like exhaust, smooth tubes and filters but want to stay ahead of some of the newer offerings like the 03 Cobra.

Tom, Thanks for the inputs, I'll check out your website.

Tony, OK, I'm guessing you have more than 47K on your 96 GTS but most Vipers as you know are well below this range.

Richard, Yup on both counts. Not many are aware of the Tiger. Although I gotta find another color scheme I can live with.

Anybody else with an opinion? Are there issues with say a Roe supercharger on a 47K vehicle?

Shelby,

I recommend nitrous at a minimum. Your engine should not have any ill effects from the power enhancing properities of nitrous oxide injection and it is not placing any stress on the engine and drivetrain when not in use.

What kind of driving were the first 47k miles? You may benefit from having your heads ported. Our porting comes with a complete new valvetrain. Your valvetrain could quite possibly stand freshening depending upon the type of driving that the car has seen. Although your camshaft profile is the best of any year Viper, we offer a nitrous grind that will enhance the effect of nitrous and give you more power on motor as well. Should you be interested in freshening your cylinder heads, a cam change at that time is the most cost effective.

At a minimum, I suggest a leak down test and compression check. You can buy the test equipment and do these tests yourself or have them done by any decent hi-performance shop.

Best of luck,

Tom
