Todd I hope U have or plan on testing your mods at the track,(road or drag) before putting the flywheel on.I've heard with street tires theirs no 1/4 mi.advantage since you come out at low rpm.Great conversation piece!Have you lowered you car with new springs ,green pads. Those are two of the best physical, aesthetic mods for the buck!!

Hi Todd,
Since you have no preconceived ideas on what it will do, I recommend you post what you're opinion is after you drive the car with the new flywheel.
We (Roe Racing) have shipped over 32 Viper aluminum flywheels this year already, in addition to other makes and models.
As long as your experience is consistent with everyone elses, prepare to grin

Hey Sean,You forgot to mention a few things,1.Their is a + and - for the flywheel mod.2.I haven't heard any of your customers boasting and posting,If Todds not happy will U refund? Its not a cheap $ install.I'd like to be wrong and buy the flywheel.I've heard good things about your products and such,Sean Roe.I'm sure you've been to the drags and tested your product.Where's the break out results. Most of the tuners give verbal feedback. That's BS.( because every drivers different).Put disclaimers on the information. At IVCA drag day last month,I drove my 99R/T 385rwhp faster than the field of 40 cars.Cars with Sean's flywheel Too!When I sell a product, before payment the customer requires all safety test data and stamped engineers approval.Just a former NHRA S/ST champ's .02 worth.

Looks like the start of another tuner fight is about to begin. It's wearing me out.

I have the Aluminum FlyWheel and I can say the car rev's faster IMO. I can not say anything about the increase in hp because the dyno was done after install.

Todd !? Is your cart a bit before your horse? Asking for references after buying it, and within 24 hrs of install? Are you a raodracer or a dragracer/steet performer? It matters.

OK....the cons: Cost about $500 for the part. Do it when you need a clutch anyway and the labor is "free." Less rotating mass takes away launch power. Same launch technique gives WORSE 0-60 times at drags.....requires more "clutch abuse" to drag race. Some buy a performance clutch when choosing AL wheel.
AL is not as "strong" as steel. Can crack/warp easier. Rare.

The pros: rev Spool up, and de-cel happen faster. 30-120mph happens faster. Braking on the motor is enhanced. Less driveline loss. OEM wheel cannot be resurfaced. This one can, for about $125 with new steel inserts.

Do us the favor of posting YOUR impressions later tomorrow? And in the future if you want pro-con BEFORE you buy, E-me?! (I will ask for your business however.....at a competitive price.)

Wow TOOOFST, you sure read a lot into my little reply

You're right though, I didn't mention a lot of things in my short reply. One of the things I neglected to mention was that Todd did not buy his flywheel from Roe Racing.

I had Chevrolet's 15 lb. nodular (spelling?) iron flywheel on my 69 427 Vette and thought it was great. Is there a nodular iron lite weight flywheel for the Viper? How would it compare to aluminum?

Wow, I would have thought the big deal would be better accel out of 1st. My 00 gts just does not wind up that good in low. 3rd feels pretty strong as do the higher gears.

My hope is that the car would really go when you roll out of low gear. Gee, threshold accel in low would be a real blast.

\

Big Jim is exactly correct, and in agreement with my earlier comment: If you try to launch an aluminum flywheel at the same RPM and the same way as a heavy flywheel, your 0-60 times will be WORSE. You must add RPMs to provide an equivalent energy. Hence, more clutch wear. 0-60 can be the same.....but at the expense of clutch and flywheel insert wear.
