I was on my way to some clubs tonight, minding my own business, when I see a car in the rear view mirror closing at a high rate of speed. I was going about 70 in my Viper and they were probably going over 100. When they got beside me they veered hard into my lane and sped off. So I went after them. They kept switching lanes and I shadowed them for a few miles right on their tail. Must have scared them a little because they took the first exit they could find. Maybe they won't try that crap again. This happens to me about every few months. I am sure it happens a lot to the rest of you too. What a bunch of A holes out there huh. Jealous mo fo's.

Last youngster tried that with me ended up over a hill. Rice burner with NOS could run short quick straights, but he tried to keep up on the back roads I travel. His suspension was not up to the challenge, last I saw of his car intact he was rolling over the hill side. He was not hurt, his car was a total loss.
Power is useless without control.

Just Ignore them.

The life that you've built
The accomplishments that you have achieved
Are not worth losing
Over some incident with some punks.

If you are threatened to the point that violence is justified legally then persue that avenue.

When you got up this morning you still were the owner of a Viper.
And they still weren't.

I don't play on the street anymore, too dangerous, not very rewarding and just not worth it.
It's why I race/open track and if some kids challenge me,I just wave and smile.

Mind you, these punks in this car were not trying to get me to race. They just pretended like they were going to side swipe me as they passed me just to mess with me. They didn't have a fast car or a rice burner or anything. It just really ****** me off that this keeps happening. If anyone ever does actually hit me someday when they are just pretending to, well God help them, they will need it. I am sure these punks thought I might have a gun or something and got scared and left the highway. I hope I scared the heck out of them. But, yes I did wake up this morning and still owned a Viper. They probably woke up in a drunken stooper, left their trailer, and went to work at McDonalds.

Every time I get challenged to race I just think about what happened in Long island with that Vette/Diablo nightmare incident and back down.. not worth it.. unless of course under your situation where they were trying to sideswipe you then I would have gotten the plate number phoned it in.. they were probably DUI or maybe even DWI!!! That would have taught them!!!

Best wishes

I totally understand how you felt!! Those punk just never grow up at all! It happened to me one time when i stop at a red light. Then there's this Toyata 4-runner on the opposite side of the road also stop for the red light. When the light turns green, that F--ker threw a empty can of soda at my front hood. I made a quick U-turn and chase after that punk, however he ran away into some side street. I'll love to get him our of the car and give him a good beating if i can!

It's just really hard sometimes when you are just mining your own business and some punk want to create trouble simply because you are driving a VIPER! Oh well, after all, we are indeed driving an Ultimate Viper, right? What can you do?? ; )

Were you in the left lane?

Not to flame, but the left lane is for overtaking (and apparently minivans and SUVs, preferably on the phone).

That may have incited (but not justified) the move. I always get out of the left lane if not overtaking and let the faster traffic by. But it irritates the heck out of me to have some car just hanging out in the left lane, especially a sports car, as sports car guys should understand the motivation of faster traffic.

FWIW.

Phil, too bad you didn't get his license #.

Getting into a fight probably would have been a bad idea.

If you'd gotten his plate number you shoulda gone to the local cop shop and filed an assault complaint because after all he threw the can at you.

He probably eventually would get out of it but probably would have to at least hire a lawyer to do so.

After that, if you find the guy can afford a real attorny then go ahead and file a civil complaint sueing him for emotional damages.

Believe you me if you go and fight him he WILL do those things to you.

Keith Verges, no I was in the 2nd lane from the left and they were in the far left lane the whole time until they passed me so it was not a matter of me blocking them, just a matter of jealousy I guess. They had 2 girls in the back seat and were probably trying to impress them. I always move over if someone faster than me wants to pass.

Intemperate disposition, actually I was on 696 on my way to Royal Oak, or Royal Joke as some people call it. Sometimes I hang out at 5th Avenue in Novi too, it is only about 5-10 minutes from my home. I always park right up front too and the place is always packed. I have been hanging out at Big Rock in Birmingham lately too. Now that is a nice, upscale looking place with civilized customers. Lots of hot looking women too. I have lived in the Detroit area 5 years and have never made it down to the Grosse Pointe area. I'll have to check it out someday. Watch out for them punks out on 696 though.

Man Phil! I feel for ya! What a bunch of a-holes! I don't know what people think when they are doing stuff like that?

I had this guy in a big truck pull up beside me when I had my Rt/10. He thought it would be funny to blow black smoke in my face while at the light. he did it once. I ignored him..he did it twice and I looked at him with disgust. He did it 3 times and I followed him. He pulls in his drive way and I get out. He gets out of his truck and runs inside. "Say's he was going to call the cops". I walked away..while he stared at me through his window. What a punk!

Guys, I know it's hard, but you have just got to ignore these punks as much as possible. If they cause you physical (or financial)harm that's one thing, but if they are just acting stupid then let it go. Ignoring them is the best revenge because all they want is a reaction from you. Stay cool and enjoy your snake.

Worst case senario they pull a gun and shoot you before you can do anything.

Next worse case senario you catch em, hit em a few times they go inside and they call the cops.

The second one happened to my friend. Ended up with assault charges, suspended sentance and lost a civil trial for $72,000 YES that is right.

My car is too important and valuable to me to risk the dangers of a street race with some foolish punks.

They veer or throw something on my car and do damage to my Viper, no fault of mine... Well, I wouldn't be one bit happy, but that's why I have auto insurance. I'd get their tag # and indirectly hit them in their pocket with the repair bill.

Just realize in court

you, the owner of a viper,

are not going to cut a very sympathetic figure

against some 19 year old kid

that you beat up

for "doing what kids do".

It's not fair, I agree

but its life and you'll be extra pissed when you actually end up having to pay that kid money
in spite of the fact that in most logical people's minds
he got what he deserved.

'had some a-hole in a ****** pickup cut me off twice on the freeway this morning. Second time, I had to scrub ~30mph in about 15 feet. After thinking a few unhealthy thoughts, I came to the conclusion that:
a} I was able to do that safely, and will go home to my kids tonight.
b} He couldn't do that, and will return to a trailer full of kids of an unknown DNA strain, most likely created while he was in prison.

Living well is the best revenge, my friends.

Unless I was contacted and they were running, I would just take down the plate number the color and make of the car as well as it's direction then call 911 while the issue was hot..

If you're driving a Neon and you come upon a Viper creaping along at a measly 90mph, ram his a$$ and get his inconsiderate, selfish, narrow minded, wannabe piece of embarassment to the Viper nation butt off the highway.

War left lane hoggin' self righteous road blockers.

John,

Are you crazy!? My 98 Neon couldn't hit 90 mph with an aircraft carrier launch and a tailwind! No sorry to burst bubbles but the only War that a neon will meagerly offer is to other tiny four bangers in its class.

WAR NON NEON 4-BANGERS!!
