hi all,

are the gen I and gen II viper hoods the same?

does anyone offer aftermarket replacement hoods at a cheaper price than the current roughly $14k they cost now?

what about the front fascia? how much does it cost?

in the event that you needed a replacement hood, would you consider purchasing a non OEM replacement at a reduced price than OEM?

thanks,

Gen 1 has a Smooth appearance, Gen 2 has a NACA duct. I have seen hoods in new shape available for 8-10K, and new front fascia's for 2-3K.
I have never seen a Non OEM hood, unless it was an "upgrade" part

Try doing a search, should give you an idea on prices. SVS does an aftermarket hood not painted to the tune of $7k. Made out of carbon fiber.

Odd coincidence here. when i first started lookin gto buy a viper; march 1998, i asked dealer if he could get me a gts hood for an rt10. he said no way, they come as they come, no options. so i called DC and asked the same, they got back to me thru the dealer and said they could do it for six thousand extra. next thing i know, the rt10 comes with the hood i wanted in 98? so was i the pioneer for this idea? ill never know. one thing for sure, good thing i waited til 99 to buy my rt10 cause the hood didnt cost extra then. i almost bought an SL600 that year since i didnt like the RT10 with the smooth hood and didnt like the gts because it was hardtop, luckily i couldnt fully convince myself to get the mercedes and waited

Costs for a front fascia are different between Gen1 and Gen2 from the Dodge catalog I saw. It listed new Gen1 fascias around $850, and the Gen2 was over $2000.

Except for the missing foglight covers on the creampuff years, can anyone tell me what the difference between them is?

The Gen II facia shape if different if you look at it closely. The bottom of the Gen II facia flares down more on the left and right near the wheel wells and the front bottom lip points more towards the ground.

Not all Gen 2 hoods are exactly the same either. The pointed corner on the hood that's on the outside of the headlights is more rounded on a 99 than a 97

thanks for all the replies, but maybe i should have clarified.. im not currently in the market for a hood, but was wondering if there are any aftermarket replacements that are cheaper than OEM parts..

i ask this because i came across someone who is handy with fiberglass and could probably make the hoods and front fascias for much cheaper..

new question.. will the a hood and front fascia from any gen II viper bolt right up to a gen I??
