This message is for the NJ members. I live in the Trenton area and just got a 2000 gray viper. I want to put a new radio in it. I have the radio already but want to know a good place to have it installed. My local dodge dealer said they would put it in as long as they didn't have to Cut the wiring harness. I have the harness kit. I beleive there hourly rate is $98. I am not a cheap person but if I can get it done for less per hour I will as long as the place that is doing it is profesional. I am will to drive if I have to. Please pm me if you know of anyplace.

Explaining Viper things to you
I had the OE radio replaced in my '01 GTS with a new Alpine. Kept the OE amp and wiring to it. Took quite a bit of wire splicing to match new radio to old harnesses.

Good luck on your installer search.

And stand behind them and watch them if you can...

I was planing on standing behind them. I found a wiring harness that is suppose to work with the factory wiring harness.

The local Dodge dealer will do it. I just hope the harness i got works with the car. If not. then i will have to splice into factory wiring.

I keep you informed.

I would be interested in that adapter harness, as no one to my knowledge has ever been able to come up with one.

A Dodge dealer Viper Tech scratched the dash so badly on my 94 hooking up a factory CD player (actually he tried and then told me he could not make it work and he needed to send it out to a car stereo shop) that I had to replace the dash. I took it to Sound Advice and they got it installed and working, but they added a few scratches of their own. I think the CD player install was around $100, and then $470 for a new dash. And that was back when you could still buy a new 94 dash.

I would be interested in the wiring harness adapter as well. The only thing I have been able to find is the 16 pin adpater to hook up an Alpine head unit, which is a female connector. I have not been able to find the radio replica,(male connector).

Let us know if it works.
