This is trivial however anoying.

Any sinple fixes?

There was a fix for this. It was in a much earlier post. I don't remember what was entailed though. Some of what I do remember was a possible spring replacement or a bushing replacement. Sounded very easy. Hopefully someone will chime in.

Even before I looked for it, I ASSUMED it was a '00 Viper.

I posted a fix involving the cable about 2-3 months ago.
Perhaps some genius (relative to my internet skills anway) can find a post the link?

OK, although the "corn pad" mod doesn't sound too clear - how hard can it be? I'm sure I will figure it out.

I have a 2001 ACR, and I got it. I have tried dynomat on several areas, including the latch area, and it is still present. I can still hear it even with the stereo on and an aftermarket exhaust.
