Now that seems funny (strange) to me. I asked Fitzgerald's about an extended warrantee on my 92 when I bought it (from them).

They told me no one could or would offer one. The car was to old.

Thanks to all. Here is what I did. Got the "Added Care Plus" from DC with an additional 51 months and 51 thousand miles. That covers me through March 2005 and to almost 68 thousand miles.

The advice I have if you do not have coverage for your 94, is get it next Monday 12/31/01. It might not be available in 2002. I was not completely clear on this!

PS: Warranty and not Warrantee, sorry I can't spell and they removed the checker. So much for not proofreading content.

Tom,

What's the deductible on your policy? I opted for a $100 plan figuring that I could handle that, but a new tranny or other expensive repairs could break my bank.

My major concern now is that when this policy expires (Mar, 2005), there won't be any other carrier out there to provide continued protection. If anyone knows of a source for a warranty beyond what I (we) have, please post it on this board.

Thanks.....

Would you buy a 48mo and 48,000 mile warrantee for a 94 rt/10 with 17 thousand miles? I have been quoted by local Atlanta Dealers $1,350 for Power Train only and $1,880 for Added Care Plus which adds most other parts. What do you recommend?

thanks in advance, tw

That sounds a little high.
I bought a "added care plus" 4yr/48k from Fitzgerald Motors, ( I think they advertise (sp) here, for around $1300.00 for my 94 rt 10 with about 15k miles.
Cheers,

Don, I went with 200 deductible. I think I am lucky that I could get any warranty from DC with a 7 and almost 8 year old car. The warranty will cover the car for almost 12 years from the date of purchase. I think that is very unusual for a mfgr to offer this length of coverage and in light of the need for engine rebuilds for our year.

happy new year to all, tw

Tom,

Based on what I too was told, we have reached the eleventh hour for purchasing extended warranties for '94's.

I am an advocate of these warranties and would strongly suggest to all '94 owners that they act immediately before January 1st.

I, like you, barely got in under the wire. While I hope I never need it, I sleep much better at night knowing my liability for any major repair is $100.

Mike at Fitzgerald's has asked me to amend my post on this thread regarding my issue on buying an extended warrantee, for my 92. DC does not offer an extended warrantee after 8 years.

This was explained to me when I prompted the finance officer as we passed papers on the car. I was surprised when I heard this because Mike had recommended that I get an extended warrantee for a Viper. But Mike also said that the cars were bulletproof.
So that was a little comforting and I went ahead with the deal. Very excited to buy a Viper.

Fitzgerald's is one of the few dealers that offers used cars. At the time I needed a dealer that would take my trade, and we were able to negotiate that as well. As a Viper dealer they support this website, and are active with the regional chapter. Good luck to them in the New Year.

I like the car very much.
