Can't seem to find any aftermarket cap for my 01 GTS. Even went to Stant website and they did not list a cap for the car. Anyone know what options there are for a replacement cap? OEM cap has 17 psi on the label.

Thanks!

PBV,I was very surprised when I took out my two year old Roe Anode cap to see that the anode was all but gone. I would opt for that one as I often wonder what would be breaking down inside without one.

The anode type cap is sacrificial and was originally designed for boats. Your antifreeze anti-corrosion additive doesn't know this and will try like crazy to protect it. Essentially, your corrosion protection will be used up trying to protect something you put in there to corrode.

Find the normal or OEM cap and use a long-life or forever antifreeze. The Peak brand "Global" antifreeze is excellent.

Ditto what Tom said, the same process is utilized in the energy pipeline industry - the sacrificial anode will deteriorate, leaving all the little pieces floating around in your fluid.

Tom probably has better data relative to the Viper, but in my experience - component failure (other than seals) in a system protected by anti-corrosion additive was usually due to fluid velocity / flow path wear / stress. Locations like elbows, tees, inlet / outlet ports, where the fluid changes velocity or direction radically.

Yeah, agreed that the sacrificial anode is not the way to go. Stant makes a cap that fits, but is only 16 psi vs. stock of 17 psi. I'm going to go with that.
