Just read that a 19 yr. old guy was arrested a couple of nights ago for driving 142 mph in his 1992 "modified" Honda Civic. It was on I-205 for those of you who know Portland. And yep, he was arrested and lodged in jail for Reckless Driving. The article also made note that the highest speed ever recorded by the Oregon State Police was One fifty-something. Almost makes you wanna' drive the speed limit huh?............Nah!!

Got caught doing an honest 150 here in Georgia--no ticket, just a "nice car, slow down and have a nice day". I figured he was happy I stopped. John

Are you kidding? They live for those chases. I've read of a few people getting stopped and let go, but I have to believe yours is a very rare outcome. In fact, I would suspect they would have guns drawn and the bullhorn blaring.

Did you stop and buy a lottery ticket on the way home? :)

Happened to me in California two times in 1991 (US152 Gilroy) and in 1994 (I-8 in middle of nowhere). Both times I was stopped for speeding (if you can call it so when you only drive at 85mph).
At that time I owned Swiss driving licence.
When you own a foreign driving licences they only give you a sort of "Warning" paper in California.
Both times police officer was very polite.

Once I got my US driving licence situation has changed .... :(

If you are Californian resident you have 14 days to get the local licence ... otherwise jail for life if it is your 3rd offense ....

I used my UK lisense here for 6 months  A guy I know back home in Scotland got caught doing 156mph on a motorway. It was the highest speed anyone had been caught at on a UK road. He got 6 months in prison! Speeding is very harshly dealt with in Scotland - get caught over 100 and you WILL lose your lisense for at least a year.

He probably got caught after his 600 shot of NAWS grenaded the thing and blew his fart can off.

I got stopped doing 145 in my old Vette. The officer said I was driving fast, but "not stupid". I took that as a compliment. He gave me a ticket for 75, and I considered myself lucky not to go to jail.

Trainville, I like your avatar! Good use of color.
