It works. It is just a shorter piece of metal that would be pretty easy to make but he already has them made so why not just get one from Sean. It doesnt make the clutch level with the brake but it does help quite a bit.

About taking minutes, it depends how easily you can wriggle under the dash and how fast you can figure out how to get those pesky clips off. I'd say it took me 15 mins. I can hardly tell the difference in clutch height or travel - wish it affected it more.

Yeah. When I first bought my car I found muself riding my clutch in between gears because you have to lift your foot off the clutch so far that your knee hits your chin (well not really) this little piece of metal does the trick. Its a pain in the but to install. I would suggest having someone that is narrow shouldered to do it because you have to be on your back on the floor.

My install took way more than a few minutes. To get to this piece, you need to be on your back with your face up under the dash. The clips are a *****. I tried for a little while, but found the easiest way to get the whole thing done--believe it or not--is to take out the front seat. That took five minutes, and made the job potentially 15 minutes if I had known this in advance. By the way, I did mesurements pre- and post-mod of the clutch pedal travel and resting distance to the floor. If I find them, I will post them. This is not just a $20 issue, it is a PIA issue. I haven't really noticed a difference in driveability, ,but to take it out is not really worth my time.

You would be better off taking the lower dash apart and play with the cables connected to the adjuster knob. I have not done this to mine yet (because I have not had the car for quite a while), but I do plan on adjusting the cables/ peddle heights as soon as I get my car back. I will try to take photo's of this process when I do it, and post them up here.

I understand that this does work, especially if you want to heel-toe. The brake pedal is way too high to do this from the factory.

I think we are talking about two different things here: clutch pedal height, which is what this piece does change, and heel-toe, which has nothing to do with the clutch. However, the instructions that came with the kit do tell youhow to adjust the distance between the brake and gas pedals--I haven't done that yet. The height of the brake pedal is the other factor in heel-toe, and what you are describing might be helpful there. Finally, there is an unusual "angle" for me which makes it hard to heel-toe. My right foot is angled in somewhat, and I am used to doing this in a more central position, like with my knee out and toe pointing to one o'clock. In the Viper my leg is straighter, and heel-toe just doesn't seem comfortably possible.

Thanks for all replies. The PIA factor is my concern if its worth it.

SapphireGTS, what you said about the clutch height is my exact complaint. Seems like it is so high and the clutch travels forever. My only problem now is getting my shoulders under the dash.

The trick with the clips is to not grab them and try to brute force them off, but to press down on the raised back which forces a catch to release. I almost destroyed my first one when I twisted the whole thing with pliars in frustration. I wish I had taken pictures when I had them off!

Taking the front seat out is really the best advice for install, the biggest thing you notice is that the clutch throw is shorter. On the open leg side of the clips you have to insert a small screw driver to lift up a tab that sits against the shaft, that locks the clip in place. Once the tab is lifted up the clips slide off fairly easily, and old linkage piece will slide off and the new linkage is easily installed. On mine there was a little bit of a rough edge on the clutch assembly cam that would catch the edge of the new linkage, so I had to do a small bit of filing to insure a smooth action.

Definately worth the effort. As mentioned above the clips are the only tricky part. Have patience, once you get the hang of popping them off it's easy. Don't try to force them, slide em off. :usa:

I tried to squeeze under the dash yesterday and I just could not get my shoulders under there. I guess the seat has got to go.

However, the stock linkage doesn't look any longer than the Roe piece. Anyone know the difference in length between the two?

The difference in length between the pivot holes is only about 1/4" or so. On mine, it ended up lowering the clutch pedal by about 1.5" or so. Not a huge difference, but noticable.

Take the instructions seriously when it says to duct tape the edge of the carpet to avoid losing the pieces. I did a half hearted job of this and still lost one of the pivot washers.

When we took a tour of the Conner Avenue plant last week I asked the employees there why the clutch pedal was positioned higher than the brake. They said that it was done so that there was a clear distinction between the clutch pedal and the brake pedal in the crowded foot well. Dodge doesn't want anyone pressing the clutch when they think they are pressing the brake. When I asked if there was any negative impact on the throw of the clutch by using an adaptor like the Roe link, they were less certain. I THINK their final conclusion was that it wouldn't have any negative impact on the throw.

Regarding crawling under the dash to do any work...
Last week I installed racing 5 point seat belts in my snake, and removed the seats to do so.
I would highly recommend getting those seats out of there for ANY work under the dash....They come out in about 5 minutes each and make working in the car SO MUCH EASIER.
I wish I had know how easy they come out when I installed a clutch switch a few years ago.....My back is still aching from that one.
Cheers,

Just an update for anyone who cares. The install is complete but not without a major back ache. The seat had to go! No way doing it with the seat in. Plus, I could hardly get under the dash and get my arms under there to do anything. I got stuck quit a few time.

The new pedal position is real noticable to me though. Very happy with that and the shorter travel.

I asked my viper tech to put mine in while in for a oil change & he brought the car back with the clutch lowered & the metal piece still in the bag. There must be another way to do it.

Andy,
If you can, ask your tech what he did and post it here please. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested. Thanks.

Are you sure he didnt just use the Roe one, and put the stock one back in ? The are SO closely related, that only side by side, can you see the difference. When I noticed it myself, (as I did this too), I thought "$hit, I could have just drilled my stock one had I known" So they do look identical unless side by side. Check to make sure he didnt do it and just gave you the stock one back.

Exactly what I was thinking. When I first wiggled under the dash, I thought the car may already had one installed previously. They look almost identical.
