Running RCA cables to the trunk in a 99 RT. How the heck?!

I'm installing a new xm head unit and amp and need to run 2 sets of RCA cables to the amp location in the trunk. There seems to be now way to get back there.
Can someone chime in soon as I am about to give up and cut the existing DIN wires and splice if I have to.

Thanks

If you take out the drivers seat, and the the rear cover where the seat belts are, then peal up the carpet, there is a factory grommet down low, you can fish the wires through there, go next to the gas tank and to the left rear compartment. It will take some time to do it right and make sure you dont have any screw ups.

You mean where the factory amp wires are coming from in the trunk? Fish into that harness?

Thx

I took out the seat and peeled down the carpet, but found no grommet. Where exactly is it or may it is different on mine. Is yours a 99?

Personally I found it was a pain in the butt to run the RCA cables through that Grommet. Plus you have about two feet of dead air inside the fender well to get out the other side of the trunk. When Chuck Tator did my fuel pump on my RT-10 I figured out why I could not pull out the factory RCA cables and fish new ones through. When he took out the fender well lining I saw the cables run through that dead space between the cabin and the trunk more or less pressed up against the body by the right rear fender well.
I would suggest either using the stock RCA cables if you want to keep the amp in the trunk or depending on the AMP size you could put it under the drivers seat. I put an Alpine expert V-12 amp under the drivers seat. Fit perfectly. You have about 4 inches of clearance as far as height under the seat. Advantages were Shorter RCA cables and easier to run all your new power and speaker wires and I grounded it to wear the seat bolted down. Nice thing is you cannot even see the amp under the seat. This did require undbolting the seat but worked great. Seat still moves with no problem.
