It looks like I removed the ad last night at the sellers request (?)..... at least I do not see it in there right now.

Way to protect yourself! It is always ggod to use caution when dealing with any seller you do not know.

FYI: Federal Agents are now involved in the Mohammed Mohammed scams as a "pattern" has been verified, and wire fraud is a federal offence.

Want to let everyone know about a scammer that has a part for sale on the VCA classified...

We were looking for a Borla Exhaust and contacted Antonio Mendoza (For Sale ad posted 3/01) He replied that the exhasut was available. We asked if a VCA member could handle the transaction, and he said he wanted PayPal or Escrow.com. Since PayPal does not protect either party, I choose Escrow.com. He agreed that he would pay escrow fees and initiated the transaction on 3/19/01. I paid Escrow.com and they confirmed payment to him on 3/21/01. Sent him a note asking when it would ship. No response. ([email protected])

Then, on 3/21 I received an email from ashley munoz ([email protected]) asking me to cancel the transaction on Escrow.com. I responded and asked them to cancel (both email addresses) and have received no response. It takes both parties to cancel a transaction in Escrow.com, or, if the seller has not shipped within 10 days of payment being confirmed it will happen and I'll get my $842.02 back. He should still be responsible for the Escrow.com fees.....

So, I don't think I'll be out any money, but wanted to pass this along. ALso, Jay should pull the ad. Will advise how well the Escrow.com process works. It appears that it safeguarded my money in this non-transaction. If I had chosen PayPal I'd be SOL.
You can never be too careful.....
