I would say that for street use and as much stress as could be aquired durring street use, the plug should be fine. But, I would not recomend tracking the car with that tire on it. Also, I have been told that certain plugs are rated for different speeds... you may want to look into that. Last but not least- I would recomend ANYONE here to get a tire pressure monitoring system. they are only 300-400$ at any GoodYear dealership Incl. installation. It saved me a few times on my VR-4 from leaking valve stems... and with these low-profile tires, it is very hard to notice a low tire.

Some (better) tire shops in my area won't plug a high performance tire -- they insist the correct fix is to remove the tire from the rim and patch it from the inside. Also a plug destroys the belts in that area.

I don't think a new tire is needed, but I would head the advise of your bretheren regarding high speed/stress.

I have a patch. It's certainly ok for street and drags and probably most tracks. It's difficult to exceed 140mph in a stock Viper at the tracks I run, Sebring, Homestead and Moroso. Don't know about the tracks in your area.
