I'm in the OEM GPS (chip/module) business so a tracking device is a great idea. I have a few devices from different manufacturers so if I ever need to take it back to the dealer (unlikely) I'll put one in the car in case they need to "test" it. btw the NMEA [ZDA] command shows the exact time the information was acquired so the dealer can't say your lying
