I have a 97 gts with 27700 miles & runs great, the service engine lite came on as I was getting on it in 3rd. Any ideas. I checked the gas cap & it was on ok.

Went to luch in the car today & the light was still on. $ hours later on the ride home it went out.?

Turn on and off the ignition key 3 times in 5 sec and after the 3rd turn on leave it on. Then the check engine light will flash, count the number of flashes then there will be a pause then more flashes. Each pause seperates the two digits of the code. Once the codes are flashed it will then start flashing 5 times then pause over and over to let you know its done. You can look up the code then.

One time I had cleaned my air filters, I inadvertantly left off the air box sensor and started her up. After shut down I realized that it was not hooked up and put the sensor plug back on. Took it for a drive the next day and the CE light came on. Several miles later, it shut itself off.

My check engine light just came on in my '01 GTS today when I took it out for lunch. I swung by the dealer and had them run the codes. Turns out one of the 02 sensors wires had just come partially loose. They just pushed it back on till it clicked and I was good to go.

My ck engine light's always on! Everytime I start my car!

Thanks guys, just got the word from the dealer, it is the map sensor, they said the car was running real rough. I thought it was running great! My cheepo non factory extended warrenty even pick up the tab. The dealer gave my wife a new Ram 1500 sport 4dr with the 20inch rims for a loaner. I think I need to go road test it!
