The light will go off if the puter does not detect the condition that set the light after a couple of drives, can't remember how many exactly, but no worries there...Just be sure your gas cap condition is what set the light...
And you can go ahead and throw some Stabile in...It's not too late, three weeks is nothing for today's fuels...I'm in Minnesota and feel your pain...

By my recollection, it takes 3 or 4 driving cycles to clear a code once problem that caused the code is corrected. You could go to an AutoZone, ask them to read the code with their OBD II...clear it if you are satisfied.
