She\'s a leakin!

Have heard a gurgling sound the last couple of times I drove the car (01 GTS) after I shut it off. Temp gauge is around 190, or a little higher (normal).

Took a look right after my last drive, and saw coolant around the water control valve. Can't tell where its coming from. Started the car and watched, but no obvious leaks.

Any thoughts on the most probable problem?

I was having some coolant leaks and could not find the problem either. Chuck Tator recommended that I go the the local autoparts store and rent a cooling system tester. You pressurize the system and then you examine for leaks. Found a slow drip from a radiator hose clamp that was not tightned enough. Sure beats looking over a hot running engine.

Not uncommon to have heater hoses creep off of water valve itself. Hopefully, one finds this problem BEFORE the hoses blow off (Viper Days Tech Inspector will require that the stock "crimped on " heater hose clamps be replaces by standard "screw type" hose clamp prior to track event).

Have also seen a 2001 GTS that developed a leak in the water valve itself...easily fixed with replacement valve. Keep your eye on the valve for a run cycle or two.

The gurgling sound may be air in system. Is the coolant recovery bottle in the front fascia adequately filled? (when cold, between the two embossed lines ). Is pressure tank full? Might check your top radiator hose for air AND check your pressure cap for competency to be safe.

I had a problem with the hose that runs off the right side of the thermostat housing. It still had the crappy stock pinch clamps on it and was spraying fluid when I would run at full throttle. I fixed it by installing screw-type hose clamps, but it inspired me to replace all the hoses and clamps, which I am doing now...

Would'nt be the dreaded 01 water pump impeller, would it ?

Hopefully, it was just the hose sliding off...but, if it is the heater water control valve...it is part number 04642554 and lists at $59 and some change.
