I was at the track the other day when an RT-10 almost hit the side wall. Apparently he locked his wheels when trying to shift from 3rd to 4th and went into 2nd gear instead. Which is the reason for this post.

Is it possible to mistakenly shift from 4th to 1st and from 6th into reverse while trying to get into 3rd and 5th respectively? Or is there lock out feature that prevents this at high speeds?

I'll tell that incident scrared the living **** out of me and this was my first time at the track. DOES THIS HAPPEN OFTEN AT EVENTS?

Cheers and thanks for the replies. :ooo:

The only lockout is the reverse lockout - which prevents accidentally hitting reverse. Any other accidental shift is possible - whether it be the 4 - 1 , 3 - 2, etc.

There seems to be some variablity with the stock shifter as some seem to suffer from less than perfect shifts which can leave the driver unsure of which gear they are reaching for. Other stock shifters seem to work pretty well. My stock shifter was brutal - and I consider the upgrade to the B&M one of the best mods I've done to my Viper - nice short, crisp shifts - no guessing what gear I'm reaching for.
