When you put a short shifter on the car..does it help prevent accidental down shifts when accelerating? .........What is the best short shifter out there. I heard B&M had one but there was a problem with it breaking? Any idea's?

1) No, it does not. Some even say it makes it worse, since the torquing of the motor/trans moves as much as 3/4", and the tighter pattern makes it even MORE difficult as Bob Woodhouse discovered at Viper Days.
2) It invalidates your Trans warranty, as a member discovered just last week. Especially damaging on pre-98 trans due to cast forks
3) There is a spring-loaded OEM part avail for $169 or so that DOES work.....and is OEM so is warranty friendly.
4) The short-shaft from Dave Neidert and the short Knob from MGW is all most need. Very easy to install vs a short-throw.
{Adam . . All the above avail from PartsRack - THANKS )
