I noticed that the side sill screws are just about useless after you take them off a couple of times. (underneath the side sill). It seems like the screws get striped or something. What do you use to keep these things in? I could use a bigger screw, but that will just make a bigger hole and even those won't stay?

Any great ideas what to use to keep them darn screws in?

The right size auto clip works well. It is the type of clip that is usually 1/4 inch wide with a nut or threads on the back.

I got this advice from Doug Levin. I went to a local race shop and purchased the screws made to hold racing slicks to the rims. They are a Moroso product. They worked great. Don't remember the part number.

Jeg's Racing catalog has the MOROSO screws in gold iridite, part no. 710-90100. You get 35 screws for about 11 bucks. Right above them in the catalog, Mr. Gasket has their version, part no. 720-4318 same amount for 12 bucks. The Summit catalog has their own zinc plated (gold) or cadmium plated (silver). Either one for 12 bucks as well. Part numbers SUM-G1495 and SUM-G1496 respectively. Just in case anybody needed this info. pete the ex glass guy

Jerry Scott had a great idea using stainless screws along with stainless inserts. Maybe he will see this and post some pictures and part numbers. Also, you might consider going with Helicoil inserts.

I posted the write-up for using stainless machine screws and nut-serts, a while back. Anyone who wants it again, e-mail me and I will send it in a Word file. In my opinion this is the only way to do it right.

Good info Red98GTS. Jerry, if you have a word document and maybe some pics, you should get Tony (Vipermad) to add this to the illustrated upgrades section. Looks like there is finally some momentum in that section. Be nice to keep it going.

The problem i run into is that the screws will hold intially, but when you remove them again, they don't seem to stay well. I think the guy above who said use the clips has a good idea. I just don't want to get to the point I'm using bolts instead of screws because I have to keep going larger to get a tight fit.

<FONT COLOR="red">{EDIT}Jerry, are you sure about this one? I have the write up for the 5th belt going through the seat....and the special mounting bar, but that is all I can find. Either way....if you would like to send them again, I'll make sure they get formatted correctly and uploaded to the Instructions Page!!

I may have sent it to Jay instead of you. Anyway, it's on the way to you. Hope you can use it. Several Vipers here in Denver have done it and love the results.
