I know many have done this, and credit goes to Dean Meyers.
The stock gas pedal is low, so you can't reach the gas and brake pedals at the same time. If you want to raise the gas pedal to the same height as the brake, here's your fix. Pull the cable with the crimped end toward the seat, leaving the pedal in the idle position. Find a little stiff tube and secure around the cable, behind the crimped end. About 0.5" in length is a good start. I suggest you locate the "tube" ahead of the plastic piece (with the "V" slot in it) rather than under it; if you put it under, it will ride on a rubber bushing and may eventually wear.
Here's the cable pulled out, with a tube and zip tie to make sure it stays on.
I have about 20,000 miles with no problem. And if you're worried that the tube may compress or fall off, it would simply put the gas pedal back in the default original position.
