Hi,
The name say's it all. I'm trying to sell my 88 convertible vette (383 stroker motor) with greenwood package, and my Big Dog motorcycle to buy one of these beasts. I have loved them from the day they first I first saw one. I would appreciate some help in gathering info on what to buy (when i finally sell my bike and car). Is there some type of book- article- web site- that lists the features and colors that were available each year and how many were produced? I have rea the article on this site- "tips on buying a viper" but it only lists the colors up to 2001.
My first love is the GTS- either in blue with white stripes or yellow with black stripes. I just love the lines on the car- but I also would love to have another convertible. I am told that the 2003 and up srt/10's drive much better than the older models. I love the silver or the black in these models but don't know if I could afford one, although there was a red one on ebay for 54900 that didn't sell. I thought that was a good price.
I would appreciate any and all info and or feedback to lead me on the right viper path.
Thanks
Garwood

Just about all you rcould ever want top know is in the Viper Registry

Although a little behind in updates, the following pages cover the colors and features:

Features By Year

Build Info

When you get Maurice's book you might notice the Appendices are basically the registry info which we gave him permission to use.

A few other good books to buy:

Viper by Matthew Stone

Dodge Viper By RM Clarke (old magazine articles, lots of great reading, but quality is not real great.)

Road and Track Portfolio a compilation of Road and Track articles.

Good Luck on your search...Visit this site often and do a search on different topics..and ask questions...lots of good info and knowledgeable guys here!

Also check this site out http://viper.woodhouse.com/

Call and ask for Bill Pemberton when you decide on a Viper...year, body style, color, etc...He can locate your car for you at a great price. Or better yet Give him a call now and maybe he can help you in selling your Corvette. Tell him Dave from Shavertown PA...aka "Robinhood" sent you!

ps..I can remember when I was doing the same thing as you...selling vettes to get my Viper. Good Luck!

Dave

The sweet spot for Gen II Vipers is the 1999. Still have forged pistons but has all the interior upgrades and the 18" wheels. Of course if you want yellow or have to have a car with ABS you are stuck with an 01 0r 02 and that is going to cost you a good $10k more. You sound like you are on a budget, if so take heart as I bought my GTS with 27.5k miles for $40k and I know tuner Fat Albert just sold his blue/white 96 with around 40k miles for $40k, and of course there are a bunch of Vipers under $40k nowadays. But an ABS car in great shape is gonna cost you $55k.
