no pics or sound file sorry.

i can only say that my sub exhaust only cost around $500
sounds awesome and looks great.
the exhaust tips stick out about 3 inches from the bumper
looks much better than stock and i think by being out further
i have less soot on the bumper.
they have pics in the collectors choice catalog

good luck.. if i get a scanner in the next few days i will
scan a pic

I seem to remember that a silver Viper owner in Europe had a before and after video. Helped me make up my mind to get the Snake-Oyl.

Wanted to know if the guys at Snake Oyl can make one of those sub exhaust in an X pipe configuration 16 degree angle on the X section? That would quiet down the reverb inside the coupes and would sound real good when you floor it.

GEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZ MARV!!!!! I opened up this topic and like a JET FIGHTER blasting outta hell on a low pass, this Viper starts up and starts reving it up. All this while I'm at the office!!!!!!

Quiet, everyone working away, then VROOOOOOOM, VROOM, VROOM, VROOOOOOOOOOM! Can you picture me fumbling for the volume control and panicking!!!! Needless to say, all the little gopher heads popped up!

Definitely a good laugh!!

Ralph,

Cory has put in "H" , balance pipe in the rear assembly but there are some considerations based on what I've seen of it:

it'll cost you

puts more heat by the diff

might have to send back to him once or twice to get the tip angle out the back correct
[/list]

Don't know if he's done an "X" or not call him and ask.

Excellent sound file, thanks Marv, now, would it be safe to say, that a rear muffler delete would sound 'almost' identical to the snake oyl set up?

Where would Corsa fit in, somewhere inbetween, I have listened to their sound files on their site, sounds a little less 'reverb' to me????

sounds great to me...... anything to keep the ricers from saying Vipers sound like a fart-canned Civic, ouch.....

I have the SnakeOyl muffler delete and I think it sounds much better than stock. Still some drone, though much better at idle and WOT. I did not like the fit and build quality very much, not too impressed there. Ron had some before and after sound files that helped me decide to get it. GTS Dean has installed the X-pipe and with my surplus muffler set up , my next project is to have the guys at my shop transform that into the X-pipe set up and give that a go.

As was stated in Phiebert's ViperTech post, this is not rocket science; if I had to do it again I would find some nice tips, take the car to a muffler shop (I have some skilled welders in my employ that could do it also) have them replace the muffler with straight pipe and put the tips were you want them (or use the stock tips). Save you about $400 and little to no difference in performance or looks. Just my $.02...

I would have to disagree with BigsViper on the fit and finsih issue. I installed mine in less than an hour. The only bits of trouble were in getting the original muffler connections at the pipes apart. Other than that...it just about slid in. And fit right. Bigs...maybe you got a damaged one?

I agree with all the comments posted so far, but...

I had the SnakeOyl (muffler delete) on my '96. I liked it much better than stock, but it was pretty raspy, especially when the engine was cold. The backfire when letting off the throttle was very sharp and loud.

The Corsa 3" on my '01 is much more refined. The backfire is more of a "PWOP-PWOP" sound - like giant bubbles surfacing in a lake of oil. Cool. Much less affected by engine temp.

Overall, for an inexpensive upgrade: SnakeOyl. But I have not heard anything I like as much as the Corsa.

My problem was two-fold: first the depth of the bells that slide over the pipe coming from the cats was not the same. There is a bead ring on that cat pipe that bumps up against the end of the stock bells, and it didn't quite bottom out on one side and was a good 1/4" short on the other on my SnakeOyl setup. After wrestling with them for and hour I took them back off and measured them (didn't think I needed to before) and sure enough they were different from each other, and different from the stock set up.

The other issue was that the bracket for the two bolts half way down the setup did not line up with the bolt holes in the frame, requiring a bunch of wrestling. I did buy this setup "slightly" used, but the person I bought it from is well known and well regarded on this board, and is I believe beyond reproach. I still have the setup on my car and it works fine.
Like I said in my post above though, I think a muffler shop deal would be as effective and less expensive.

This is just my experience; I know a lot of others have had good luck with SnakeOyl, and I have a lot of their other stuff that's been fine (pricey).

Just curious as to your thoughts/experiences: I have my sills off and am ready to take to shop to bolt on my new borlas. But, after reading around the forum there seems to be a mix concensus on the borlas. Am thinking about the simple muffler delete now (which appears like I can perform on my own) and allows option of easily putting the stock mufflers back on if required (ie: warranty concerns). Also, what is the cost of the Snake Oyl rear pipes; has to be cheaper than the borlas?. Thanxs ahead.

Don's comments parallel mine except for the center bolt holes. I found them to be in the correct location. The bells at the end of the pipes were different from each other and slightly shallow, but didn't leak or misalign the tips. Install was quick and the quality of the material (heavy guage stainless) was superb.

The issues for me were the tip length, (too long) expense, ($500 plus) and drone (a bit worse than stock). I went with a muffler delete H pipe (which I'm very happy with) until I get around to buying a 3" Corsa.
