dave,

congrats on your sale....the new S55 amg will be sweet, i'm actually thinking along the lines of a S63 AMG, whenever that comes around, after seeing Treynor's times...i think i want a rocket ship for a daily driver.

Do you still have the supra?

Only good thing I can say about resale value.

When I thought about trading it the price wasn't as high as I would have liked so I kept the car.

Still driving it about 3 days a week.

Ouch. That really stinks. I am almost postitive you will miss it. You will still have fun with the S-Class. My mother has it and it is a great car. It is SOOOO much easier to drive compared to the Viper. The steering requires nothing but a finger to turn when compared to the Viper. I had to drive it one day and I had not done so in a few months and it just felt so weird after driving the Viper for a while. Crazy but hey have fun.

If you are concerned about depreciation, please check out the prices of a couple year old AMG's. They drop like a stone, very un Mercedes like.
I know the 02 S55 did not have the supercharger, but people who bought them are already down $25-$35,000.
I also have experienced the power of the CL55. While it is a fantastic car, there is no drama. The car simply will not let you anywhere near the edge before the electronics kick in.
Extra Supercharger enhancements are available from "THE VIPER SHOP" and Dan Cragin In LA. He also works on AMG's.
Enjoy your new supercar.

47k for a 1999! Geez that is horrible. I would thought you would at least get in the low 50's. Thats GEN1 territory. Especially with your low miles. I could never sell my 99 for that and I have double amount of miles. Have fun with the new Benz though. Take Care

Is anyone really getting $40s for any gen1 these days? About a year ago that was the asking for low miles, perfect gen1s. I don't think they are bringing anywhere near that these days.

With one exception, I haven't seen genI's going in the $40s... I've seen plenty of pristine ones going for mid to high $30s though, and 'acceptable' ones for low to mid $30s.
