Spacers for wheel alignment 94

just had viper lowered
should there be shims on the top wishbone as well as stock ones .
any help would be great.
as there is some on front n/s wheel but still have neg camber.

Thanks for all the info snake bitten very handy to give to tech to set up the car but does anybody now if there should be shims as well as the stock sports shims (i think thats what they are called) or should all adjustments be done on bottom wish bone...

The sport shims are between the upper wishbone pivot bar and the frame - front end ONLY. Removing them will add approximately 1 degree of negative camber to each side and yield about 1/8" toe out. There should only be ONE SHIM PER BOLT at the pivot bar. These shims are about 3/16" thick.

You adjust the alignment with the eccentric cams at the inboard pivots of the lower wishbones, both front and rear. As a general rule, Chrysler products used the eccentric cam method for at least 40 years. The F-M-J body cars, and perhaps some late B-body cars utilized upper wishbones that were attached to a slotted pivot bar and had locknuts on vertical studs.

Lots of Chevies use shim stacks in the upper wishbones to set alignment, but if your Viper has them, it isn't right.

Thank you VERY much GTS DEAN thats the info i needed .
Car is now booked in to get done same people that done neils and nadine's viper's.
Cant understand why there was so many shims put in when i had it done...

An extremely important alignment setting is the Rear Caster angle. Uneven caster angles may cause a pull, but will definitely cause stability issues with throttle steer in corners.

Whether it be a Gen1 or 2, the factory Viper Service Tools provide the best way to assure you get this set correctly and 99.98% of alignment shops will not have them. However, there is a tedious work-around. Each rear tire must be replaced with the space saver spare and the toe link separated from the knuckle. A "caster sweep" of 5 or 10 degrees may be performed to measure the caster. Perhaps some of the computerized 4-wheel alignment machines can determine this thru Thrust Angle and Wheelbase calculations. If so, it is worthy of pursuit.
