Speaker size???

Hi Guys... I have a 99 gts and am looking at replacing the speakers and head unit. I see the speakers are round, but how big are they? I'm guessing I'll have to match the size when buying the new ones. They look around 8inches but I'm guessing

Buy 6.5" component speakers for the doors. Don't bother with the rear ones. They're useless unless you put the JL Audio W06 subwoofers.

Thanks for the info.. That works out great because I was looking at the new Energy 6.5 inch speakers. The good part is that the tweeters can be detached if you want and mounted in the doors.

So now I have to look at a couple 6.5 inch subs...thats a good idea thanks

I disagree about not replacing the rears. I bought 2 sets of Alpine SPR-17S components and did both front and back. Tossed the tweeters for the rears of course. Door speakers take some time to get in - NOT bolt in, but not rocket science either.

The sound? Way improved, glad I did the rears too!

I think the head I used is a CDA-9885. Kept the OEM amp.

Should be obvious I wanted to stay with the OEM brand.

Since the rears are firing into the front of the trunk you will not hear any frequencies about midwoofer level. Therefore a full range speaker is literally useless. The only way to get rear imaging is by doing this.

Yeah, it was done by a friend of mine that does audio work. He blended it so well it looks like it came from the factory. I actually have rear imaging now.

Yep, these are the ones I put in the back and they sound great.
