Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to see if anyone here has changed the shocks on their car? I'm thinking about putting in the custom shocks from PartsRacks and wanted to know if the ride is smoother or more bouncy. In a few Ricer car's I've been in (not mine... so don't bash me) I noticed that when they dropped the car, the ride became rediculously bouncy :( Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks,
Gene

Those cars are bouncy because they dont change the shocks too. You must change the shocks and springs. I bought the Moton system. Works very well, nice handling, no bouncing at all. I felt the stock was slightly bouncy - this has made it better but of coarse stiffer.

I have changed my last two SRT's over to Aldon's and these have had many benifits for the car. They are three way adj. and I have lowered the car about 5/8 of an inch, looks good, the ride is ok, not exactly better, as the springs are a good bit shorter. The compression and rebound are very much adjustable, so this is a nice upgrade to the viper. Funny thing is my 04 SRT oem springs had a very different ride to them, from the 03 I checked the number on the oem springs, and they were different. I think they have a softer rate to them. Aldon insists on using 350 lb. rates. I think I'd like to try some 250's

Armorgod, The coilovers will cost you $980.00 plus shipping. You'l love'em. They are very good in quality. By the way, that price is for all four on them.

Gene, The shocks were designed with SRT-10 mules PartsRack provided. And we CAN provide custom spring rates to match your needs. They are 3-way front, 2-way rears. The manufacturer does NOT insist on one spring rate.

We have installed several SRT-10 sets in the NorCal area alone. We can give you referrals if you call us. Customers are VERY happy with the tour-like ride they requested. Less stiff, not bouncy.
And those who want a spirited drive can dial in stiffer rebound. (Show-guys can even add chromed springs!)

Nobody wants the hassle to change out the the suspension componets on the srt-10. The car rides absolutely perfect! You go over the rough stuff and you hardly feel it.

I wish Motons were height adjustable, not just damping. I'd love to have a system like on the Lambo M'Lago to raise and lower the car with a switch.

That's what I want, a switch in the car to alter the height!

Think I could put small motors on them to make my idea work?? I really have no idea what I'm talking about! yet

New suspension system and springs installed last week and the car drives so much better! Handling, which I never had a problem with, is even more responsive and hugs corners with ease! I never had a problem with the old system but I always felt that the SRT-10 sat a little to high! New system drops it about .625 inches and totally improves the look!

Thanks for all the input!

Yes Gene the SRT doe's sit a bit high, but not much. I lowered mine a bit over 1.50 inches and it looked two low. You wouldn't believe how much that shows on the car. So i raised it back to about 3/4 of and inch and thats perfect, plus no real risk of draging the front. Aldons seem to be the best thing out there. I'm on my sixth set.

The rears are not to easy to install. Be prepared to remove the rear upper control arm to get the oem's off. Please save your old coilovers, they cost over $1000.00 each, and you may need them when you sell the car, as some people insist on keeping oem parts with the car, or on the car.

Skip,

do you have some pics of your lowered ride - I was thinking an inch lowering would be great but you say it may be too much ??

How much did the change end costing you

Thanks

Is there an easier way to lower the SRT-10? I installed an Eibach spring kit in my RT/10 and lowered it 5/8 and 3/4 inch, front and rear respectively.

Sorry for the long delay. Yes I have some pics, but have never posted any. Can some one walk me through the procedure. I keep all my pics in the "My Pictures" section.

As for the amount to lower the car, 1 inch and no more in my opinion. I had someone drive my car as road beside it, the car has so much rake in the body that 1.5 is to much. The body of the car is to hard and sharp. A BMW would not have this effect. I raised back up a bit and it looks great.

I have to agree with Skip! Any lower then 1 inch and you'll have some major rubbing! I lowered mine by 5/8 and it will occasionally rub if I hit a ditch or speed bump to fast!

Its amazing how much better the car will look in the 3/4 to 1 inch zone or as Gene says a suttle 5/8 inch is ok. It's very easy to adjust, but you must have a low pro. jack, and you can get them from harbor freight.

Aldon coilovers will do so much for the car.
