steering ??

I just bought a 2000 rt/10..The biggest thing I notice (leaving a 911) is the steering. The car on some roads pulls left & right. My friend has a vette and says his does the same due to "wide Tires". Some of the roads around here (MAryland) are grooved from trucks. Anybody else have this problem? Trust me ! I can live w/ it.......Thanks! John

Ah, ghost steering... one of the little suprise attributes of the Viper. Never take your hands off the wheel, especially while casually braking. On country asphalt roads with small "truck grooves" like you refer to, my Viper does seem to exhibit a mind of it's own.

I too believe it's due, in part, to the large tires laterally bridging road grooves. On the expressway she tracks and brakes perfectly straight.

I found this effect gets more pronounced as the tires wear down. It was down right awful just before I put the new rubber on, with the new rubber hardly noticable.

Same for the GTS and RT/10. The larger the rims and tires the worse the "tracking" of the car under poor road conditions.

I had 285/335 on the Vette and the stearin was the same like on the Viper. I like it more, it is better for the track.

It happens on my C5 and on the RT/10. From what I can remember it also happend on my Mustang

You'll get used to it. I've noticed the Viper feels very "nervous" when cruising on the highway, but when loading the suspension in corners and on smoother roads it feels wonderful. Take your car to the track and enjoy
