Beat a 01 or 02 (385 hp) ZO6 in the 100' shootout in Camrose Alberta yesterday. My 94 RT10 is stock except for smooth tubes and K&N's running Pilots at 20 psi on the back and 50 psi on the front.

Stock Class

Vette 3.035, 3.111, 3.222 sec's for each 100' run
Viper 3.079, 3.095, 2.941

Brought home $250 and a trophy.

Needless to say this guy was pi.... and will be back to the Stettler and Lethbridge show to spank me with his new 405 hp Z06 that will be delivered in 2 weeks. I'm a little concerned on this as he does have a -400 weight advantage as well as his traction control that he didn't use as the dealer says it won't stand up to this with his 6 speed. Sounds like he will be having his talk to the dealer about the use of or lack of use of traction control.

In the modified class there was a 70 Chevy 1/2 ton, 454 burning alcohol and running Nitrous that pulled 2.4 secs. He took home $1000 for 3 hrs of fun that after noon.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can stay ahead of this Z06 with out resorting to buying a Gen 2 viper or a pile of money to be layed out in upgrades? I have looked at pulling my mufflers, running glass packs and no Cats but the information on the Web is so convoluted that it’s tough to really know what works and what doesn’t. The exchange on the Cdn peso doesn’t help matters either.

Removing the muffler gave me another 10hp on my stock 98. I haven't removed the cat but it would probably give another 10.

Are your rear shocks set to firm? Front shocks set to soft? Some people remove the front sway bar.

Congrats. Nothing wrong with $250 and a trophy.

I am 2 for 2 against the 2002 ZO6 in my gen 1. At the time I was just running high flow cats, belanger exhaust, smooth tubes, and filters. They both spanked me off the launch but I reeled them in pretty quickly. Maybe they just couldn't drive. Who knows?

I wasn't aware that I'm able to adjust the suspension on my 94.
Is there a link to this some where explaining the process? I will need all the help that I can get next time out to beat this guy with his new 405 HP model.

Thanks

after selling my last viper i bought a 02 zo6.the car is down on power compered to the gen 2 viper but it is a super car.you have to drive it to understand.
anyhow after about 1000 miles on my vette i went to my buddy that has a 98 gen 2 gts coupe with k/n and smooth tubes.we wanted to compare the cars.he also has had several vipers and vettes so we can both drive pretty decent .we ran them a few times.same outcome every time.first gear i would be ahead a touch then we get even, second gear we were at each others door the whole time.third gear we were side by side for a few seconds then the gts put about 5 cars on me quick.we didnt run thrue till 4th ect cause the road was short.he had smooth tubes and k/n and my car was bone stock.i was happy with the vettes performance cause i know the snakes are a beast.im planning on doing heads and a cam on my z and that may put me on par with the snake, but im not sure cause there tough.anyhow im in delaware and if anyone around wants to drive her and see for yourself contact me.see ya
