what would you do?

Any one got any more data or experience with the stock pistons and rods reliability, survivability, on a heads and cam car with 10.5:1 compression around 600rwhp.

My car is almost ready with a completed heads and cam setup and now I'm thinking.... Well I don't want to risk losing a motor with higher cylinder pressure with a 10.5:1 compression ratio so shall I go back and do pistons and rods as well.

Well yes, costs are an issue and that's why I didnt decide to do this a few months ago.

It be very useful in my decision process of anyone could share there own good or bad experiences with heads and cam higher compression ratios and 600rwhp on stock pistons.

My car is a weekend ride only so no track time, but regardless how risky is using stock pistons?

It be real valuable to all of us here to especially hear from those who have been through this.

I wouldn't do heads/cam on stock pistons and rods on a Gen III. Others may have done it but I wouldn't risk it. The Gen III pistons have extremely thin ring lands and the higher compression of shaved heads could come back to bite you.

My 2 cents.;)

Should not be a problem as long as there is no detonation. At 600rwhp your around 700fwhp, that is only 70hp per piston. Many paxton car are well above this along with the higher IAT's from FI.

It's going to come down to the tune. I'm doing the same setup on my GenII stock pistons. If I were going to a higher compression ratio, doing nitrous or high boost I'd swap out the pistons, at least. In the end, I was told by many reputable builders, as with anything else be it NA or boost....it's going to come down to the tune. But consenus was the stock internals would be fine for what I'm doing on my GenII. I'm going to find out soon enough. ;)

you should be fine...Theirs peopole running 720 rwhp in thses things with the paxton no prob...
And 600 rwhp may seem like a big number..But really thats only 150 rwhp over stock...thats only adding 33%..

No biggie

Those are real cavalier words...

Ever do some research and determine how many gen3 vipers stock piston ring lands have already failed?

A lot will be in the tune. I would think it would be fine with no detonation.
