I am looking to add a subwoofer in my 98 GTS, I still want to keep the spare tire and have room for the nitrous bottle. I was thinking one 10". I have not found any premade boxes. Post pictures of what you have.

There is no way you can fit a 10" sub with a spare and a nitrous tank in your trunk. Unless you have a 2.5lb bottle you'll have to make some compromises. I'll upload a picture of my set up when I get home.

if you dont need 'SUPER BUMP' then get a really lightweight powered bazooka. i have a 200 watt 10" bazooka tube. its strong enough for my tastes AND it also is less then 20 LBS. Most 10" woofers are 20LBS by themselves + custom box + amp. you might be adding 100 LBS to your GTS. to me was a no-no.

if you need stronger bass. get a kicker solobaric and custom box set in the side corner of the rear hatch. you will be blocking one of the vents, but you will have plenty of space. » mounting depth: 6-5/8" » sealed box volume: 0.88-2.00 cubic feet

if you go to a quality sound audio place by you, they should be able to make a custom box exactly to your specifications. At least then you wont be looking at an ugly bazooka tube.

yeh I have the kicker subwoofer and amp, the sub IS heavy, I have it sitting dead center, right over the spare tire. but...I love the sound of my system, it's unbelievable. I am too much of a music nut to NOT have a system.

but most of the Viper guys DO want to shave #'s and add hp, which makes complete sense

I have a bazooka 10" in my Z06, it's very lightweight and it does add a nice sound to the stock system in there.

I removed my spare and put in a 10" JL W3 with (2) JL amps and (2) pairs of seperates, and my system absolutely rocks...

OMG, I bet that sounds AWSOME!

I couldn't get my system working for awhile there, the amp kept draining my battery. Turned out the system was wired wrong-got it fixed last wknd, and I can tell ya'-I missed having it in the Viper

I have 2-12". Above the spare, in seperate boxes so they can be removed seperately if needed. A little hard hitting. You can feel the floors flex under your feet. I also put generic dynamat on pretty much all of the interior panels.
Don't know if we can post pics? ?

Pattymelt,

Look in my gallery w/ my set up. 10" sub, amp and spare tire. I still have plenty of room for a 10lbs bottle.

I've also got a 10" sub with a box I made myself. I even have the basket facing out (it's an Audiobahn with chromed flames on the basket and looks AWESOME; I think the model is 1051T).

If I remember correctly, I made a wedge box 15" high, 21" on the bottom, 5" on the top, and it sits dead center with just enough clearance to get past the trunk latch body. Sounds incredible.

Venom-US, I didn't know you also had a sub. I'll have to check it out next time the group gets together.

Hey, how did you upload the pictures?

Nice set up but where does your nitrous tank go?

You do know about blocking the vents issue right?

I had to login under image galleries and copy & paste the ubb code from my gallery picture. Removed my nos tank but it was dead center in the trunk around a 45 deg. angle. Decided not to re-install the nos but if I did the 10lbs tank it would still fit. I know about the vents but have not had an issue yet. At VOI9 at the track w/ the windows down, had no problems.
