I will try to give a short summary of the deal. I have an 04 Z06 with 14K miles on it, I got them to give me 36,000 for it. The Viper was listed online as 66,799. On the deal sheet, they are selling it to me for 67,777. They originally gave me 34 for my car, and added 2k, but instead of showing it on the Vipers price, they are showing it on the trade in. I still want to negotiate the internet price of 66,799. I am financing the vehicle, the loan is through everything is all set with that, they want my payments to be at $1250. I want the best deal possible and lower payments, givin the fact I can walk in sign papers and walk out with the car, how should I go about getting a better deal?

P.S The link below is the car, they said they got it from an "auction" I car faxed it and its clean according to that atleast. Should I stay away from an auction car?

Nice car nice deal...someone might have just put it up for auction because the market for vipers isn't exactly hot right now!

Three weeks ago I traded my 03 ZO6 for an 04 Viper the two things most important to me may sound elementary but have served me well in the past. One feel the back tires for excessive wear now since it is on internet that may not be possible and the car only has 3K miles. If it wasn't too much of a distance I would look at this car first as it is a large chunk of change. Secondly ask for the VIN and personnaly have it run at your local dodge dealer while that too is not fool proof it can tell you something about how the history of the car. My car was also an auction car and I am very happy with the car. You will not believe the difference in torque and handling in the SRT over the ZO6.
Good Luck.

Are you happy with what you are getting for the Z06? Is the reason for the trade the potential sales tax savings (relevant in Kansas, maybe not elsewhere)? There is a darn near brand-new one-owner 2003 red SRT for sale in our local club with 1900 miles on it. For $63,000. I would think that if you could sell your Vette for $36K (no idea on that market), that you could find a better deal on a car with a more well-known history. Not necessarily this one - it's just an example of what is out there right now.

And is your $1250 a month on the difference between the Z06 and the SRT? If so, I am assuming it is a pretty short term loan. Watch for Carrot or Pemberton to weigh in on this one - it's what they do.

First and foremost, do NOT buy a used Viper with unknown history before you have it inspected thoroughly by a GOOD Viper tech.
There are plenty of good tech's in your area.
Send me a pm if you would like a recomendation on where to take the car.
Good Luck.

Ps My.02 thinks you are paying too much for the Viper and getting a fair price for the Z06.
I would sell my perfect Black 04, 2500 miles with 16k plus in upgrades for not a whole lot more than what you are paying for the 03.
(I will be trading it in on a new TT this summer) :D

I got 36K for my '04 Z06 when I traded it in for my present GTS. My Z had only 7K miles, but the market is and was DEAD for Vettes. They are a dime a dozen. The dealer eventually sold it for 38.5K so he didn't make much either.

Lot of dough for that car, imo. There's no shortage of SRT-10's out there - I'd hang out for the nicest one I could find. Bu

If you trading in your car every couple of years, why don't you just lease it? I got my 03 last Nov. with 1900 miles for $61k. I went with leasecompare.com. Basically, you find your car, new or used, apply to leasecompare.com. They check out the car and once approve it, you arrange for delivery and they pay the seller. My terms came out to $1k down, 5 year lease at $779/month. I decided on 5 years since I doubt any major changes would come out for at least 3-4 years (2003 + 5 years = 2008). Thus, by the time I trade in in 2009, there will hopefully be something more exciting out there. If not, the buy price is only $28k.
Compare this to a new lease on a C6 convertible. My comparison model was also around $62k, and the monthly came out higher than the viper due to the fact that the vette would be brand new and so has more to depreciate, whereas the viper brand new would be in the mid $80ks, and so much of the depreciation has been absorbed by the prior buyer already. that's my 02 cents.

never buy an auctioned car, they are "as is" and dont have to meet ANY DMV requirememnts to be sold. for example, legally a dealer cant sell you a car that has no working tail lights, etc......... but an auction can they can sell you no matter its condition. and who knows where its been.

Autions are ok if the car is not being sold as is. You would not beleive how well protected you are if the car is sold with a green light. That's the only way to buy one at an aution. If the car is a currant year model, most big autions even protect you against unanounced paint work, and for around $35.00 to $50.00 they will certify the car. Manhiem autions are the best to buy from, but you will need a dealer there with you.

SRTRICKY, the dealer I am trading the car into already has plans for the HRE wheels, without the mods on my car, his quote was "its just another dime a dozen SRT-10"
Man did that hurt!
I never thought I would have to give away a Viper. Dodge did us SRT-10 owners no favors this past couple years.

"dime a dozen" maybe he thought it was the new z06 :D

My next mod planned is some hre 545r's. I've wanted to make my car looks like yours before I even owned a Viper!! Too bad I'm in Canada or I would have defenetly taken yours.
