Suspension and brakes. GTS vs TA vs SRT

Viper less now for about a year and a half. Previous Gen 3 (3) and Gen 4, had Motons on the last 3. I am thinking Gen 5 and thought "they" had improved
the suspension on the GTS at least but have been reading numerous threads where guys are going with MCS suspension. Question, how is the GTS suspension
in both settings? Ride height adjustability? How about the TA? Reason, if the suspension is not up to par and still too high why buy a GTS instead of a TA or
SRT and upgrade to MCS? Also looks like the track pack is the way to go for brakes.

TA brakes are "it" the GTS/SRT track pack brake setup is very adequate save for the ultimate track rat.

If youre thinking track time, certainly get a TA or SRT and modify it to your liking.

No oem ride height adjustments.

Judging from your comments just get an SRT and MCS setup. Add TA brakes and aero package from Mopar or Xtreme.

And there is a noticeable and distinct difference on my GTS suspension between street and race. But even in the firmer setting; it will leave you wanting a little more for track use.

I agree w/ this statement. I went from a 13 w/ track pack to a 14 w/ 2 mode suspension & can definitely notice a difference in driving comfort between the two modes and the 13.

I have a 13 track pack SRT with the MCS shocks. It has been lowered approx 1". With the MCS shocks you can pick your poison, the shocks are adjustable from soft to super firm. Mark J may want to chime in, however, i believe the MCS shocks actually have dual reaction within both the compression and rebound setting. In other words, if you are in a medium setting (7 of 14), the shock will react differently if hit a rut versus a change in elevation, it softens the first and stiffens the second.

I do some drag racing, therefore, the factory GTS shocks would do me no good, since there is no independent settings of both bump/rebound. My guess is that most track-only cars probably have the MCS (or similar) shocks versus a factory one size fits all.

The GTS is the nicest "street trim" offering of the G5. Optional Laguna interior is world class. Has a little more sound deadening, 2 mode suspension that is softer than the TA, but more refined than the base SRT.

In 13 the track package was optional on the GTS; became standard in 14.

Woodhouse offers new spring cups that will lower the car. About $400.

The ride in the G5 is leaps better than the G4. Much more controlled and compliant. Firm without being harsh or crashy. The entire body structure is stiffer.

Track Package was 2013 only and among other things included Sidewinder II wheels with Corsa R-Compounds and 2pc Stop Tech rotors. The brakes are the only part of the Track Pack that made it on to the GTS for 2014 AFAIK, and the wheels and tires became options, standard only on the TA.

The "track Pack" came with the Corsa tires in 2013, I do not think the GTS came standard with the Corsa's in 2014. The GTS did come standard with the two piece rotors and the light wheels, the Corsa's are questionable.

I see Bruce just confirmed what was stated above.

For the 14GTS the "track package" became standard afaik. Whereas was an indiv option on 13 GTS.

Good clarification. I didnt track the changes that hard. I just knew the 14 got the rotors and wheels on the GTS; whereas was a sep option in 13.

Just asked my friend that is an SRT product specialist.

Hes exceptionally well versed obviously.

The 14GTS gets PZero's. Not Corsas.

I have the parts books in front of me and the sway bar part numbers (by VIN) are all the same between models. As a matter
of fact, I have a 14 TA front sway bar and drilled a tiny hole into it to see if it was solid and it is not. Its hollow.
I also have several sets of comp coupe sway bars some of which are the same diameter as street car bars. Comp coupe bars are solid. They weigh about 4 lbs more than a hollow bar.

Yes the shocks and springs are different both by part number and visually.

Doesnt the press data/product description of the TA specify stiffer/solid bars?

Something like 35% stiffer front; 31% stiffer rear.

Something along those lines.

Maybe that refers to the shocks/springs since they're known to be different? Or does it specifically mention bars?

This is a quote from the guy that would know what is on the TA. Parts catalogues are not always correct or up to date.

"The springs are 240 fronts, 600rears. The bars are just solid. Should be the same bars as CompCoupe. We used the solid rear bar for ’08-’10 Viper also."

Appreciate all the input. Sounds like a loaded GTS with spring caps would be the way to go for me. Seen a lot of prices out there, some want MSRP - the 15k discount
while others are 30k to 35k off MSRP as a start.

This is interesting, they say they're solid and all I've ever heard, but if you have it there in hand & drilled it & it's hollow, ummm, so are the TA bars solid or not??? Different or not ???

BTW, the caps are a great option, OP, they will drop the car for very little $.

Where items are listed as "available", the "Track Pack" bundled many of them in 2013 only, much to the disappointment of many 2014 buyers. 2014 buyers had to order the available pieces separately at a much higher total cost.

This states the TA rotors are same width and less weight than the SRT. I thought the TA went with a wider & slightly heavier rotor for better / longer track performance. I know I read that, geesh, I feel like a newbie after 15 years of viper ownership.

The SRT has 1 piece rotors so they are heaviest then TA then GTS are the lightest.

And the TA's "wider" part is referring to the pad surface area that leads to the increased swept area.

Don't know about the sway bar's construction or stiffness, but can tell you they absolutely nailed it along with the rest of the suspension for optimized at the limit handling on track.

Seats. I have seen pictures on GTSs with full leather (Laguna?) and some with leather and fabric with the Sabelt tag. Are the TA seats like these or totally different?

A few nice TAs out there, and cheaper than the GTS also, but nice options on the GTS. Wondering how I am going to like the ride of the GTS as I did like the Motons

A white one on ebay right now, shows as a base coupe and in the description a GTS but it is a TA. Grapevine Dodge.
