Perhaps the Wizard can lend some assistance to this issue. The "protective" tape on the rear just above the back window is becoming cracked and just dirty looking. Didn't know if that was a replaceable item through DC or if anyone maybe custom cut some 3M tape for it and has a procedure for?

On an unrelated issue, after taking the top off after bringing the car back from dealer, the foam/rubber seal seemed to leave behind residual bits of the seal on the metal part of the car(on the protective tape). Don't know if this just comes with leaving it in the sun at the dealership or something else? All comments appreciated!

Thanks Chuck, any comments on the seal sticking to the Sports Bar as described above? Any trick to removing the tape? Hair dryer? Heat gun?

I just removed it, no dryer or anything. When applying the new one I screwed it up. It was a pain (for me) to keep ligned up. So I removed it. I not using anything currently.

Maui: a towel over the bar when you have top on? Not sure I can see that.

To the others who removed tape, no scratching of paint or seal sticking to paint after being in sun for long times?

Thanks for replies!

As old as this thread is, I finally got some pics of the residue my soft top is leaving behind as well as the protective tape looking not so well...any new tips are welcome. The car really doesn't see the sun that much with the top on(why have a convertible then right?), so I ruled the sun or heat causing it out.(the residue from soft top)

Wiz - Did I understand you correctly when you said to put WD-40 on the underside of the soft top where it rest on the sportsbar so this doesn't keep happening?(phone conversation awhile back) Can I just remove it with hairdryer? Any chance of paint coming up with it? Do you have a step by step process for removal and new application? Thanks! (below)
