On behalf of Neil, I wanted to post this, since he's not yet registered on the forum.
My friend Neil bought George Farris' absolutely PRISTINE 93 RT/10 this past Saturday.
After a cluster [foxtrot] airplane trip from Norfolk to Albuquerque, we rented a car and got to Amarillo about 7 hours later than planned. It's been almost nine years since I bought my first Viper, but the look on Neil's face when he actually saw the RT/10 brought back lots of memories.
George knows how to care for a car! He was the original owner, and the car looks and drives like new. Arrow-rebuilt engine, new diff, many updates, etc.
After the deal was done, and fortified with sandwiches and snacks that Jane Farris so generously packed for our trip, we drove about 300 miles and made it about 40 miles east of Oklahoma City where we stopped for the night. We left early the following morning, and drove 1520 miles from there back to Virginia Beach. Average speed, including stops, was 78 MPH. Mid-90s MPH factoring out the meal, IBS (long story), and fuel stops. Like an endurance race!
The car drives absolutely wonderful. Really enjoyed I-40 east through the smoky mountains at night. It was like a Kart track.
Neil's first HPDE driving school is in two weeks. I'm happy I added another bud to the Viper nation, and to the track rat group. He'll be joining VCA ASAP.
I've done about a dozen 1000+ mile long distance road trips in Vipers over the years, and this trip was made pleasant by the perfect car we drove.
If anyone wants a pristine used Viper, see George Farris. But you'll probably have to wait another 12 years to pry it away from him!
George & Jane: thanks very much for your hospitality. It was great visiting with you guys.
