That \"celebrity\" thing...
So today was "bring your car to work day" (okay, that is every day) and I took the GTS. Stopped by Amoco on the way home to fuel up ($1.51 per gallon for premium, in case anybody is curious). As I am finishing up, I hear "Oh my God, THAT'S HIM!!" I look up to see a black Tahoe screaching to a stop in the street where the Amoco sits. They reverse (in traffic) and pull in. A rather attractive blonde leans out the window and says, "Hi! Do you remember me? I was the one that you let watch your car at the drag strip!"
Sure enough, when I had gone out there last year with Matthew with his cat-killing GTS (80 mph and kitty go *BOOM*), this same young lady was fawning over my car. I offered to let her sit in it and she vowed she would never get out. I told her to keep an eye on it while I went and chatted with Matthew. Twenty minutes later I came back and she was still sitting in the driver's seat with a grin that wouldn't stop. Oh yeah, and she was a good candidate for that Extreme Bikini thing.
Did I remember her? You betcha.
Today she was bummed that she didn't have a camera (again) and I remembered one of the most valuable lessons I have ever learned on this board: Buy a Polaroid camera and keep it in the car. It is great for treating the kids to a "souvenir" when they walk up to the car with such eagerness. Pop them in the driver's seat, snap the photo, and the kid has a story he will be telling for a while and the picture to prove it. Just think, that could be in somebody's scrapbook 30 years from now! I digress (as usual). I remembered the Polaroid and offered to shoot a couple pictures for her. I told her I would like one to show Matthew when I told him the story of how she "found" me again. Matthew, here you go:

Yeah I know, not the greatest picture but what can you do. If I had only kept the digital camera in there instead... And yes, the car was dusty from sitting in the parking lot today. I cleaned it up when I got home, of course. What a GREAT car!
