I had set up an appointment to see Sean new shop/ test facilities over the holidays. I was amazed how much time Sean Roe put into my car. Sean spent 3.5 - 4 hours out of his busy day to show me his new diggs and do "real world tuning".

Sean(well 1/2 of Sean)leaving my car to tweak Vec2 program.

The majority of the time was spent going between his test facilities and his shop burning new programs for the Vec2. Each time dailing in when to add more timing or more fuel. He started off with 2 of his previous programs for highly modied Roe S/C cars, one of which was a FE 02 Viper that had a boost program 700 wrhp and a shot up to 800 wrhp (we only used the boost program side). We found out that the card we made was completely different than either of the other 2 programs. I was quite impressed at the detail Sean put into writing the programs such as balancing the left bank(5 cylinders) to use the same fuel demand as the right bank at idle.

It is amazing the amount of time and expertise that Sean Roe and Larry Macedo have put into my car writing programs to get the full amount of power and torque out of it. Someone considering a S/C or Turboed car need to consider what is involved tuning these cars. Without knowledge people backing the products all it is a pile of mechanical parts that will not perform to its upmost.

I tried to pay Sean for his time and expertise.... he would NOT except any money..... the only thing I could do was to go buy him a sub sandwich at 4:00pm because he had worked though lunch fine tuning my car.

As a special treat Sean arranged for me to meet the head engineer of TRW research department at the end of our high tech real world tuning session. He was a Corvette owner so I insisted that Sean take him for a drag strip ride....he came back with a smile ear to ear.

Very cool!

Sean is good people...based on the very limited interactions I've had with him I've been truly impressed with his dedication to our little passion - your post just furthers this point.

Kudos Sean! :2tu:

Happy New Year Cuda,
Sounds like Sean is every bit the class act that the viper community knows already..By the the way I wish I had a backyard like that, I'd be there all the time dropping down 1/4 mile times..LOL

Agree on all fronts. Have done some deals with Sean and he is always fair and prompt too. Wish he would place his pre-luber back on the market....

Oh and I almost forgot...I can't believe that back yard of yours!!! WOW!

What I wouldn't give....something tells me the city wouldn't be very happy if I asked my neighbors to move so I could lay down a strip. :)

Very cool! And I'm very jealous!

Ward, I didn't even notice you had a camera while we were out there. Yours was the 4th Viper I've tested on that section (.6 mile). It works pretty well for driveability, tip in and full throttle testing to over 150mph. Maybe next time we'll run the giant circles or go on the 1 mile long straight :)

I didn't mind putting some time into the tuning of your car. It was mainly spent tweaking the banks to get the adaptives on all cells at 0. Since your car is modified more than most, it was good experience for me see what it needed. Of the three 700 RWHP cars I've had out there, they all had different timing curve requirements. The programs and experience help everybody.

We just finished setting everything up yesterday. All the bays have air, electric work is finished, lifts and both dynos are operational, machine equipment up and running, etc. Took 6 weeks total.

Now we're set up to do some real development and I'm looking forward to getting a good start Monday morning.

Have a good weekend,
Sean

Looks like a good place to have a high speed shoot out if theres enough distance to slow down. How about Sean are you up to hosting? :2tu:

I doubt our insurance would cover us on an event like that.

Sean, Now that you are up and running I would like to get my car back down to you so you can fine tune it the way you did Wards car. I know I still have a cold start up issue, and I would really like to get the most out of what I have. You have been great to work with and I am looking forward to having you put the finishing touches on my car.

Hi Jeff,
I took your car out on the track and did several roll on, full throttle and cruise tests, fine tuning the 93 octane program. Your car was very close to begin with and only needed a few tweaks to the program once the valves were adjusted. Ward's adaptives were farther off (though within range, I still like to see them at 0%). Though both motors make about the same HP, the 93 octane programs were different. Partly due to the engine differences, mostly due to the fuel system / pressure / regulator differences.

As far as tuning goes, we can make more HP with race gas one day when you get a chance to dyno in your area. You can fax me the dyno results and I can e-mail you a program change on the spot, so you can run the car again with just minutes in between (just have to pre-arrange it with me so I can do it quickly). You can bring the car down if you'd like, but I don't think it's necessary.

Regarding the cold start, have you had a chance to take care of what we showed you when you were here? That should take care of it.

Regards,
Sean
