ILL JUST MAKE THE BOLTS KRYLON NEW. ITS A SHAME THOUGH. The finish on these cars is very poor. I especially like the weather foam between the dashboard and the windshield.

I know that I am going to open a can of worms but, most of the Viper quality problems are due to poor to non-existent QC.
For Dodge since they don't know what QC is, that's mean QUALITY CONTROL.

When you design a car, you have WRITTEN specifications for everything, from the quality/grade of the bolts to the specific anti-corosion coating,to the panels gaps,to the amount and thickness of the sealant, being on the body or windshield.

Why do you think that you have so many Vipers that come out of the factory with leaking windshied?

Why do you think that so many Vipers have panels gap all over the place?

Why do you have so many Vipers that need to have the oil cooler hoses re-tighten at the oil filter?

Poor design and/or specifications or someone not doing it's job correctly?

If the Viper's suppliers parts doesn't meet specifications, they should be rejected.
If the person(s) in charge of water/leak testing the windshield cannot do it's job correctly,he should be forced to stand in the rain outside.

And PLEASE don't put a card in the car that say: "You will quickly come to appreciate the extreme care that have been taken to deliver the highest QUALITY vehicle possible"

It's scary if what we are getting is the highest quality POSSIBLE!!

And with so many Vipers having yellow sills, why can't Dodge F@$G solve this problem?

I love my Viper and think that it is great car,but $70K+ SHOULD buy you some QC.

I've noticed this rusting problem too- most Vipers have rusting bolts on the rear underside panel and most Vipers have rust in the weatherstripping of the lower door panels and the weatherstripping by the rear hatch in GTS/ACR/GT2 models. Anyone have great home remedies for getting rid of the rust in the weatherstripping and preventing it from returning? I use a leaf blower for drying, which I would think would help as there should be no standing water in there...

What about silicone weatherstrip treatment that they sell at Murrays and other auto parts?

I just noticed this past weekend that the car was starting to show a small aamount of rust on/in the fold of the weather strip around the door. Don't need that to keep going. I would think the silicone, so long as your careful not to get it on the paint, would help to keep moisture out of the cracks/folds in the weatherstrip.

Any thoughts?

I have a 2001 GTS. I love the car. My car is 95% plastic. While plastic does not rust, why does EVERY LITTLE Non plastic piece on the car have to rust so quickly (6,000 miles). I live 2000 miles away from any oceans so salt in the air is not an issue. Even the bottom weather strip on the lower part of the door has rust in the groove.

Whats up?

Just hard to believe! Paying $70k+ for a car that has no quality control and a leaking windshield on a GTS coupe!

You are paying for the Look and the Horsies. It is an EXOTIC on a budget. What other car can you get for 70K (new) that looks and does what the Viper will do. And if you tell me SUPRA or RX7, SHUT IT!

Those cars stock cant touch a stock viper.

That rust in the door weatherstripping is from the steel grindings left there during assembly. Run your finger down that slot and you will come up with a paw full of steel slivers. Apparently, CAAP has consistently forgotten how to use a shop vac, since I had this same problem on my '99.
